im planning on getting one tomorrow
 
but i dont know if i can get insurance on it
 
i had the treo and they wouldnt let me get insurance.
 
anyone know if insurance is aloud?

No, you cannot insure the iPhone through AT&T.  Your best bet is to look for a third party solution, or contact your homeowner's or renter's insurance about a rider for the device.  And no, I do not know how much that would cost.

You'll need to go through AT&T or Apple. The insurance or extended warranty is the same. I think it's $70 for two years.

That is incorrect.  Insurance and Apple's extended warranty are not the same.  If you lose the phone or it gets stolen, the extended warranty will not cover it.
