Hello, I have been an att customer for 15 months. I am eligible for a phone upgrade in 3 months. I want the Iphone now and I am not even sure if my upgrade in 3 months with allow me to buy the iphone. There is an option to upgrade before you are eligible you just have to pay more. ATT has a refurbed 8 gb iphone listed on there site but when I log in to my account and try to purchase it, it is not available. I have been thinking about getting the iphone for a while now and it used to be available I just never completed the online order. Any suggestions?

     Unfortuantely you have to be qualified to get the iPhone, thus you have to be eligible for the discounted upgrade to even get the refurbished iPhone, so untill the upgrade date for your number comes around you wont be able to get it.

According to a number of posts in this forum, refurbs aren't eligible for an early upgrade, and some have said who are upgrade eligible that refurbs are mostly being offered for new customers. That's when you log-in, it disappears. You can buy a new iPhone for $399 now with 2yr commitment, or $599 without a commitment, or wait 3 months until eligible and pay $199.

I feel your pain Jack.  I had one all picked out at the website on 3.25.09.  I thought I would go to the stores to price match so I could actually have the phone on my birthday TODAY.  when I logged in to double check after work prior to heading to the store, refurbs weren't available any longer for us who are not yet available for the full discount.  The best price I got was 350 at Best Buy.  I know you can understand the magnitude of my disappointment!!!  I have been wanting one since they came out!  I tried calling sales dept to see if they could do anything about it and didn't make much headway.

Apparently, AT&T keeps changing their policy.

 

Two months ago, I read something about refurb 8Gb iPhones for $99.  I checked after logging into my account.  Sure enough, I am upgrade-eligible.  And there was the 8Gb iPhone refurb listing for $99 with 2 yr. contract extension.  Well.. I couldn't really justify it, as my Blackjack was working fine...

 

Here we are two months later.  A good friend of my came due for upgrade just over a week ago - ge got the $99 deal.  My Blackjack is acting funny, so I say - hey, I'll go ahead.... 

 

 

No dice - no longer listed (the refurbs).  

 

They are still listed on the standard wireless.att.com page if I don't log in...

Best buy still sells refubs to existing customers eligable for upgrade....

 

But yes, AT&T stopped selling refurbs to existing customers effective 3/25

I just did the 99 refurb upgrade saturday afternoon. Under order status it says shipped for all parts and none are backordered. Can i assume its coming this week as it is monday now?

 

Also, How do i activate the phone? Ive heard you HAVE to go into an att store
