Important: Your iPhone may be able to receive calls in
as little as 15 minutes after activation. If you are migrating your
current phone number, it can take longer—up to several days, depending
on the type and status of your former service account—before calls are
routed to iPhone. In the meantime, you can make calls and use iPhone’s
other features.
If you receive an email notification that we are processing your activation, it will take longer as we work to clear the queues. In some cases we will need to manually push your activation order through. If you call into Care, ask that a ticket be open on your behalf.
Make sure you completely power off your iPhone and when you power back up have coverage before calling.
Thanks, Orland

Bull...I just got off the phone with customer service, being transfered multiple times, eventually being told that it will take 24hrs. There is no reason any of this should happen. If you can't transfer, don't de-activate my existing SIM card so I have NO SERVICE...I can't make calls, sync, access any of the iPhone functions...
Outrageous...

Absolutely mind boggling! I stood (sat) in a line for 4.5 hours today to purchase an iPhone. Went in just after 6:00 and purchased the phone. Went home to activate through iTunes and received the error message "We're sorry, AT&T has determined that your current account cannot be used with the iPhone" A grand total of $658 spent in the store, 4.5 hours in line in the hot Georgia sun, and this is what I get from AT&T? My account is a business account with only one phone on it (my phone), but my NAME IS ON THE BILLING STATEMENT! I was on the phone with Tech Support for 1 hour and 9 minutes only to be told that my existing AT&T number was "lacked" into a MBI business account and could not be converted to a personal account. I was told there was no way I could activate the new iPhone. PERIOD. Now how much sense does this make, I have one AT&T phone and simply want to "upgrade" to the new iPhone, which is another AT&T phone. This is absolute legalized "rear end violation". I am SERIOUSLY thinking about switching back to Nextel and voiding my contract with Cingular/AT&T. Anyone else having this problem? What did they tell you? Are we all fools for jumping at the first chance to buy on the release date? Or better yet, I think it's quite obvious the error is on their part; don't release a new product unless you have all problems addressed!
