Hi all. I'm Italian. I bought an iPhone unlocked (not SIM lock) here in Italy.

Sometimes i come to Seattle, where some months ago i  bought an At&t Prepaid SIM, and i want to use it with my iPhone 3GS

1. Does it work?

Obviously I need a data plan, i saw this one : Data Unlimited . The problem is that i don't see the iPhone in the phones compatible list.

2. If i buy this plan, can i use it with my iPhone?

Thanks much in advance

Becasue of the way your link is working, I cannot see what you are referencing.  However, in general, the iPhone even an unlocked one, is not eligable for a go-phone data plan or for that fact to be a go-phone.  This hurts international travelors like yourself but, IMO, was stoped due to others who used this option vs the two year contract that was required by the agreeemnt between Apple and ATT.  At some point, both those parties have moved to drive the iPhones into the path that ensures that the iPhone is used on the ATT network and trigger any revenue sharing on the data plan that is part of the contract.

In this case, it does not help you out as an international travelor visting the US.

No, you cannot.  Unfortunately, you cannot use an iPhone on a prepaid plan with AT&T.  Additionally, there is no data plan that AT&T offers for pre-paid users that can be used with an iPhone.  Sorry that's not what you wanted to hear.

Just do what my cousin from Greece is doing this summer, go to Tmobile and get a prepaid sim (the international airports carry them too) with data credits. You won't get 3G but your iPhone and Wi-Fi should get you by. AT&T will eventually address this but they haven't yet :smileysad:

They need a process to accomodate international visitors while protecting the agreement they have with Apple for domestic iPhone usage.

It takes one call to Apple to verify if a iPhone is a official carrier unlocked unit. I went to a  AT&T store and spoke with a manager with no luck..For a six week stay a contract is out of the question. I'm sure as this becomes more of a issue AT&T may address it, until then people will work around it I guess. Going to Greece with a AT&T iPhone will have similar issues, but I haven't had time to have that problem lately! :smileysad:

Yes, you can use your unlocked iPhone with any carrier any way you want... Only iPhones sold through AT&T will have to have $30 unlimited data plan. Hope this helps.
