My Device: HTC Tilt - iPhone - BB Curve

OK first off let me say I have come a long way trying to find the perfect data device for me. I have had the pearl, blackjack, 8525, and currently have a curve, iphone and the new tilt. I am not so impressed and I will tell you why. First I love the 3.0mp camera, the built in GPS , and the styling of the phone. There are a few other features that are nice but thats basically where my positive opinion ends. 3G is horribly slow my edge blackberry is way quicker. I would compare this to the edge speed of my iphone no joke. It does not impress me. WM6 is so buggy and slow , half the time I get a text or an email i click on the icon and nothing happens , the phone doesnt freeze but it doesnt let me click to view , i have to restart. battery life is pretty horrible too which I knew going into this , that it would be so I wasnt blindsided , its just a complaint. the reason I bought the phone was for the blackberry connect push email which is very important to me. I need my personal and business email in realtime , not 15 min later. Im just wondering if anyone else has felt the same?

I guess it all depends on what you are using before you get the Tilt.  My last phone was an HP 6515, which is great as I'm already used to a built in GPS (use it quite often and wouldn't get another phone without it) but the Tilt is CONSIDERABLY faster that the HP.

well the closest interface ive used prior were the 8525 which was a pile of you know what. i cant believe people put up with that phone. the user interface on the iphone was incredible but its email lacking quality meant it had to go. the processing speed of the iphone is unmatched for me so far , the tilt is seriously laggy.

The Tilt is incredibly laggy.  I also own a htc 6600 aka pda2k.  This phone was made in 2004 and it is much faster while flying through menus, clicking buttons, etc.  I'm confused how Tilt dominated the processing benchmarks on Pocket PC Thoughts (link here) yet it seems SO laggy.   Otherwise I am happy with it.

Getting around 750 kbps on my Tilt... my wm6 is very responsive.

YMMV

Honestly, I've removed most of the bloat, added other programs, and I've noticed improvements. Not lightning-quick, but better. Next step is flashing, but that's only if this gets unbearable.

Sorry to hear the Tilt is not performing as you would like. I'm not sure if it's all the software they have installed on it that is causing your slow down issues. I've read in other forums that some power users are complaining about the same thing. They have made suggestions to help increase the speed of the phone. You could try a Master Restore and not let let the at&t software load and see if that helps your speed. Did you load any of the HTC addons? This might also be an issues since they are really extracted files from the Kaiser to work on other phones. I'm not exactly sure on the differences between the Kaiser and the Tilt but I don't see many performance issues from the Darkside crowd. I've hand mine for over 2 weeks now and I haven't had to reset or a lockup since I got it. Battery life is great for me so far and from all my post you can see I've been using this thing to death. You could try and exchange it. Sorry I couldn't help.
