I migrated from a regular cellphone and a PDA to a Nokia E71X. So what I have is a "phone book" from the cellphone which consists of single phone number entry for each item and an "address book" from the PDA which contains addresses, home, office, cell numbers, email addresses that I sync with Outlook in my PC. Currently, I only have the "phone book" part in the Nokia "contacts". I believe I can sync the outlook information to the "contacts" using Nokia PC Suite. I am not sure I should do that because the "address book" has too much data including people that I will never call. Once I sync the "address book" to the Nokia, it will take extra time to look up phone numbers that I do call. My question - is there any software that would allow me to maintain the "address book" in the E71X that can sync with Outlook but without being part of the "contacts". Solved!

Nokia PC Suite will allow you do to remove Contacts from your sync.  When you open the Sync program, create a custom sync and uncheck the Contacts box to remove it from your sync.  Save the settings and this will become the default sync.

If you want to have a copy of your phone's Address Book on your computer, just open your Address Book in Nokia PC Suite and there is an option to export it to a file.

May be I did not explain it clearly. I do want the entire address book from the PC on the phone. I was trying to avoid to search the entire address book for the phone numbers that I would call, which is a small subset of the address book.

Ahh...  Got it.  In that case, I would just use groups.  Create a group on your phone and assign the contacts you actually want to use to that group.  Then, when you want to make a call, just select that group from the list.  You can then search only within that group instead of within your entire list.

Can anyone tell me why PC Suite doesn't work with the Nokia E71x. From the Nokia US Site I selected the E71x to download the PC Suite. Well Since I have installed it, I have not been able to sync my contacts, send apps provided from the nokia site and several other things. Accessing the contacts for the PC suite, it syncs with my phone and request to install some updated plugins and the phone will not allow to install. Can anyone provide me of a solution for this. Does AT&T completely block out PC Suite? The only thing I can do is send images and some files to the microsd i installed on the phone.

PC Suite has full functionality with the E71x.  If you're having problems, there's some sort of issue with a setting on your phone or computer.  Have you tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling PC Suite?
