I just upgraded my Macbook Pro to OS 10.5 today. When I now try to access the Glob Trotter Application it crashes and will not load. I tried to uninstall/reinstall with no resolution. AT&T support tells me that it is not compatible with OS 10.5. Also, the manufacture, Option, does not have any patches.

Anyone else experience this or have a resolution?

Thanks,

Mike

i don't know of a solution yet, but thanks for posting this - i was going to update my powerbook to leopard tonight. i'll be waiting now, as i use an option gt max 3.6 almost daily...

is the issue with the GT connect app, or the actual driver? try connecting via internet connect (found in the applications folder) instead of GT connect and see if it works. if not, can you post the connection log? it's found by going to windows -> connection log in internet connect.

if i see a solution anywhere, i'll post back.

SOLUTION!

Thanks for starting the post...  Just upgraded to Leopard and ran into same problem.

Go to Network Connect and the GT3G GPRS (might also see second listing for GSM) is listed.

Input:

Telephone Number:  isp.cingular
Account Name:  ISP@CINGULARGPRS.com
Password:  isp.cingular

[Apply]
[Connect]

Good luck and Cheers!

Can anybody tell if this setup is applicable for not only the GPRS network but also the 3G where available? Network Connections doesn't show a connect speed.

Thanks

just installed leopard, using an option gt max 3.6 with no issues. no drivers needed to be installed - plug it in, enter the same username/password (ISP@CINGULARGPRS.COM / CINGULAR1) as before, and it will connect.

works for both GPRS and 3G.

I just got mine working. Here's what I did.

Uninstalled Globetrotter connect. Probably not necessary but it doesn't work with Leopard anyway.

Plugged in the card and waited for it to initialize (only the blue or red light flashing).
Opened Network Preferences.
Picked GlobeTrotter item with the signal bars (not the one with the handset) from the left side of the window.
Left Configuration as "Default"
Changed Account Name to "isp.cingular" as I'm in a 3G area. Use the settings from the previous post if you're in a non-3G area.
Change password to blank.
Chose "Advanced".
Chose "WWAN".
Changed vendor to "Option".
This left the model as "Apple (v.34)" or something and only variations of this were listed as available models so I left it alone.
This also automatically changed the APN to "isp.cingular" and the CID to 1.
Clicked OK. This returned me to the previous window.
Clicked Connect.
Successfully connected.
When I click on the Advanced tab now, the model shows up as "GSM".
I seem to be connected as 3G speeds though I haven't really tested it much.

Hopefully this will help others.

just did a few speed tests at speakeasy.net using an option gt max 3.6 & the stock leopard drivers.

test 1: 924 / 256
test 2: 1024 / 333
test 3: 987 / 193

the downlink throughput numbers are definitely an improvement over the previous option drivers.

My card (CardBus) on my PB G4 works exactly once per boot under Leopard. If I try to reconnect, I get a kernel panic. I had the same trouble under 9a523 as well...

which card and firmware are you running? my option gt 3.6 doesn't suffer from panics after multiple connect/disconnect cycles, eject/insert, and sleep/wake.

My test results via Speakeasy, Seattle:
Download Speed: 1670 kbps (208.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 358 kbps (44.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

The test was from near the University of Washington campus in Seattle.

David

PS setup was very easy once I stopped trying to use Globetrotter and just let Mac OSX 10.5 do it's thing.
