Here's a solution that worked for me. My wireless router is configured to give addresses 192.168.1.xxx I got another router that is configured to give 192.168.0.xxx (note the 0 not 1) and connected that in a daisy chain to my 192.168.1.xxx router. The phone was able to connect to the 192.168.0.xxx router...... I think the Blackberry 8820 is configured to look for a 192.168.0.xxx address... It works fine now... I will entertain questions...

Yeah I'm having a similar problem, here are the specifics:
- I can get a connection/IP/authenticated session with my router (netgear something)
- IP is in the 192.168.1.0/24 range. This should not matter.
- I can ping hosts, both on the LAN and off, and do DNS lookups, both on and off
- I have tried with both WAP and no encryption
- I have tried with and without APN configuration (which doesn't matter because I'm on BES)
- The browser will not ever connect to a website, using any profile (Wifi, Internet, etc), nor does email work.
- The BBmaps app does seem to download maps. It's the only app, besides ping/hostname, that seems to actually be able to use wifi. GMail, Google Maps, the builtin browser, etc, do not work.
This isn't cool.

I see many are having issue with the WFI connectivity. Has anyone had success with connecting using PEAP and MS_CHAP V2 to authenticate against a Microsoft AD via Radius (i.e. Microsoft IAS). From the Blackberry diagnostics we see: Associating with network failed to connect Security credentials are not sufficient to complete connection We have verified that we are entering the correct AD domain login. Thanks.

Update; I was able to connect and browse at an open wifi hotspot with no connection problems. My wifi router is behind my LAN router; the 8820 may be expecting some specific network configuration or similar that's not obvious. I'll investigate further. This is still a problem with the 8820---it should not rely on nonstandard configuration.

I purchased 2 phones and both are working on my home WiFi network with no problems. I haven't tried any other WiFi hot spots yet. I'm using WPA-PSK (TKIP) for Security, the WiFi selection mode is Automatic and I'm not using DHCP. I have a Netgear Range-Max 240 Router with MAC address filtering enabled. I'm able to browse the network and receive e-mail via WiFi. I verified this by turning off the ATT Network. My phone's were purchased on Sep 22 and I have only added Google maps to the phone. I haven't performed any software upgrades or modifications. If you have WiFi enabled and you are not connected via WiFi, your battery will drain faster.

I just upgraded from the 8800 to the 8820 for the wi-fi access and I'm having the same problems you guys are. I have a WGU624 netgear router with the latest firmware. I just changed my network to completely open and it still won't connect. It sees it when I browse for the network, but it won't connect to it. Same "unknown connection failure". It has worked before, but not for very long. You would think this would have been troubleshot before they sent it out... It has the current version of software (from ATT and verified by checking the version numbers). I'm going to try downloading the software from the above posts and try to "re-do" it. Its either that or call ATT and tell them it doesn't work and they need to send me a new one!! I should mention that I used the BB desktop manager to port over my user data and applications from 8800 to 8820. Did anyone else do this?

I finally figured out my problem. I have a Belkin pre-N wireless router. One of the security settings is something called "protected mode" which I think cuts down on some wireless B noise (or something like that). By default this feature is enabled. Once I disabled it I was able to hook up to the network. Not sure what other routers have this feature but try going through some of your router's other wireless security features (other than the typical WEP or WPA settings) and shutting them down. Good luck!
