For once a rumored date turns out to be true.  The WM 6.5 update for the Jack is now available from Samsung:

The App unlock method for Jack WM 6.1 still works with WM 6.50. So all is well. :smileyhappy:

It looked exactly like WM 6.1. on Jack. As far as I can tell the only differences are (1) new IE 6 browser (2) Microsoft Market Place app and a few other new apps.(Vlingo, AT&T Wifi etc.)

If this official update bricks my mobile, will AT&T or Samsung be there to assist (warranty or recovery)?

I doubt it. There is a disclaimer that you have to agree on before you can start upgrade. I didn't bother to read but I bet somewhere it mentions you're on your own if you bricked your phone:smileyhappy:
