Has anyone that has had a cracked/broken screen (pixels bursted) had any luck with having their phone replaced through the warranty center? Don't want to pay the $115 for something that we didn't do, but occurred after 30 days?

This is obviously a problem. I had a W580i with the keypad problem, it ended up being a recall, and I'm pretty confident the screen problem is a defect seeing how it is happening to multiple people

WOW! I can't believe this is happening to more than my daughter. I was upset with her because of this thinking she did something, now I feel bad. If it is under the 30 days they may exchange. My daughters was 34 days. So I think she is out of luck. Anyone else know if that is true? I am very upset - she paid full price for this phone too!

Same thing happened. I used my phone. I went into an office. Pulled my phone out to check signal level. No screen but an apparant crack running length-wise up my TFT. The crystal was fine. I called Warranty and they said "If the screen is cracked, it is impact damage and is not covered under warranty" I tied to explain that the crystal was fine but the TFT was damaged. They repeated the bit about the crack and impact damage. Fortunately, I am within my 30 days and my new phone is due to arrive today but, it is absolutely crazy for Warranty to apply this "impact damage" standard when, based on these posts, there is obviously something else going on. SONY!!! Check this thread!!! I'll even keep the serial number of the damaged phone so you can pull it in on the returns...

I also had this problem with my phone. I had my w580i for around 30 or so days and next thing I know I go to check the time and take the phone from my pocket.... broke.
The best way I can describe it is a crack on the underside of the LCD screen, with no damage to the outside of the screen, along with what appeared to be a splotch of ink.
When I spoke with them about replacing the phone they tried to tell me it was physical damage, even though I knew for a fact that nothing was done to the phone, and it would not be covered for replacement.
It looks like this is a very common problem. Also, the number 3 key on the phone was cracked; apparently it is also a very common problem for the number keys to crack.
Unsatisfied by what they were telling me I spoke with a supervisor and got the phone replaced at no charge; this appears to be the only way to ever get things done with them.
Just got my new one two days ago, a refurbished one, hopefully they fixed all the problems on this one...
I would advise that if you run into either of these problems to take action on this immediately.
They will tell you at first that if it is not within 30 days that you are out of luck, but do not take no for an answer, this model has many defectives being shipped out.
I can't help but wonder if it is mere coincidence that they all seem to break right after the 30 day point.
Good Luck!

My phone was 39 days old when the same thing happened. The screen itself is perfectly fine. The LCD is cracked and it gets worse. There was no impact to my phone, I just took it out of my pocket to answer a text. So I tried to send SE an email and it doesn't work. I'll have to call them later since I'm outside of the 30 day mark.

"I got a new lcd for my w580 at www.htclcd.com it was only $39 works great" I don't see one there. I've tried to get it fixed though SE. Called them and they told me to mail it in so it could be fixed. Then they called me up and told me it was physical damage and that they could fix it for $175. I can buy a new one for $180, the warranty may not be valid but it doesn't seem to matter too much at this point since they won't support it. So I called them back and the first person was polite and couldn't help so we asked to see her supervisor. I have no idea how this guy even got his job, he was rude, didn't know his boss's name, replied with the word "maybe", and failed his job. So we got his boss's number and have called about 5 times leaving a message every time. I'm starting to consider never getting another SE product. Whoever it was who finally got theirs replaced, I would love to know how.
