I purchased an AT&T 3G MicroCell six days ago and sill have not been able to get it operational. I received the message:
"Activation Failure (Error 102). Your 3G MicroCell activation has failed. The address you registered online doesn't match the physical location supplied to the network by the unit's GPS signal. Check your address by visiting att.com/3GMicroCell, under Manage Your MicroCell select Manage Now. Please call Customer Care 888-334-3787 and enter PIN Code 88346 for further assistance. Helpful information is available 24 hours a day at att.com/3GMicroCell including Frequently Asked Questions, Troubleshooting, and Managing Your 3G MicroCell. "
I have called the AT&T Customer Care number and reported the issue. I followed up again this morning. So far AT&T has not been able to resolve the issue. I have also verified that they have my correct address. It appears the AT&T system can't find my address.
Has anyone else had this issue with the 3G MicroCell? If so, how were you abel to resolve the issue?
Bob

I had a very similar registration problem (different error code, "FTC-111" as I recall). I opened a ticket (i.e. had level one support open an engineering trouble ticket i.e. the number has a CM-XXXXXXXX format ), they promised resolution in 7-10 days, the problem was resolved on the 3rd business day. I was told it was a problem with the online serial number registration application (OLAM). Now my MC is working as adverstised and I am a happy camper.

Your issue seems a bit different than mine, but who knows. AT&T also issued a trouble ticket and said they would get back to me in 48-hours. This never happened, so I called again, and all they told me is someone is working on resolving my issue. The person I talked to again this morning said other have had the same issue I have, but he did not know if these were resolved. They also said they have no direct communications with the people doing the actual work and have no way to escalate the issue. I am now on day six, without resolution.

The registration application validates and associates the unit's serial number, street address, and GPS coordinates, the symptoms the engineer described that one may experience, included: discreapancy between street address and GPS coordinates, rejecting serial number, failure to complete registration (i.e. perpetual state of 'registration in process', etc).
Intially ATT support promised a call back in 24 hrs, with resolution in 48 hrs, after those deadlines expired they apologized and said they set the wrong expectation (I'm quoting them), that it could take up to 7-10 days. I had experienced a similar pattern of not following through on several other tickets in the last year (3G card, iPhone, etc), I expressed my disastisfaction at that pattern and I politely escalated to a support manager and then to her manager as the commitiments to callback and/or resolve were missed one by one.

About 90 minutes ago I had a call from an AT&T technician on this issue. He manually re-entered my address information and did some testing. He had me reset the 3G MicroCell and said he would call back in the morning to see if this resolved the issue. After waiting about 60 minutes I again received the Error 102 message, so whatever he did had no bearing on my problem. I called back and informed the trouble desk that the 3G MicroCell still does not work, and they have now escalated this to engineering. They said someone would call me back tomorrow.
The time it is taking to get this thing up and running is unbelievable. I am in the telecommunications business and if it took this long to resolve my customer’s problems, I wouldn’t have any customers left.

I am also seeing this issue and I’m pretty sure it’s due to my address not showing up on a map. The person I talked to didn’t seem to know what to do other then open a service ticket for the issue. Has anyone received a call back with some sort of resolution?

It took AT&T many attempts and ove seven days to resolve this issxue for me. In the end they had to manually enter my actual location into their system.
One interestign thing I noticed, after everythig was working, was I checked my location using my iPhone GPS, and it shows that my phone is locaed about 50-miles from were I am physicaly located. The location is where I used to live two years ago. I provided AT&T with my new address two years ago, and my billing address was changed. However, it appeas that their system still has my old address for tracking purposes.
