Will AT&T register a used microcell?

I took mine off-line, and it won't be going back up. They work for some, and maybe I can save someone from getting ripped off by AT&T.

Yes. I got mine second hand. Just make sure that you disconnect it from the network and off of your account before the new owner tries to activate it. Make them aware it can be a serious pain working with these. My story: http://forums.wireless.att.com/t5/3G-MicroCell/SOLID-GREEN/td-p/3232809

Yes, they will.

As the above replier states, it's best to have the original owner disassociate it from their account first.

However, if you buy it from Ebay or somewhere, and when you go to activate the Microcell it shows as still associated with another account, simply call AT&T and explain the situation.

I purchased a used Microcell from Ebay, and after finding it to be still associated with the original owner's account (and having no idea who first owned it), a call to AT&T allowed them to verify that the device was no longer in use and they deactivated it from the old account and put it onto my account.

I've heard stories about it taking weeks to do this; they did mine in about 15 minutes.

I received 1 of these microcell towers during a moving/dumping job that the owner was otherwise going to let end up in the garbage. It works fine and everything, and sold it on eBay. The person i sold it to wrote me back and is saying that it is still registered to that owner and based on this thread advised him to call AT&T as you mentioned above. However AT&T told him that the orginal owner must deactivate it from his account first and i explained to him i have no way of getting in touch with the original owner anymore. I advised him further to call the technician back and press him or ask for a supervisor. Is there any other advise i can give to this person or anything he can do because it sounds to me as if AT&T is trying to Stonewall him in his attempt to activate it to his account...Please Advise....
