Cingular 8525 Green Phone Button does not always work....

The button will work great for a period of time, then goes through phases where it doesn't respond at all. I am thinking it's a hardware problem rather than software. (And hopefully not user error...) I read through a couple of posts about the green phone button not working so well. Is that a common problem? If it is hardware is it easy to get it replaced through the warranty?

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

I am having the same problem. I had it happen once about 2 weeks ago where the 'Call' (green) and 'End Call' (red) buttons just stopped responding, but then when I got up the next morning they were working fine. Now I had it start doing it again and realized that even the to 'Soft Buttons' as well as the 'Windows' button and 'OK' button are also not responding. I really like my phone, but this is annoying. I paid way too much for a phone that malfunctions like this. I sure hope that it is just a few isolated instances and not the norm. I especially hope that this problem can be solved.

Strangely enough, after not working for about 3 days, my buttons just started working again. I am totally confused.

I am also surprised that I am not finding where other people are having the same problems, so this must be a rare problem.

I think if you do a reset after they quit working you will find they are working again. This proves it's a software thing. Also, after they stop working, go to Start/Programs/Phone, then close the phone app and see if the buttons are working again. That is how it's worked for me a few times. I believe it is software related.

I didn't try a hard reset, but a soft reset wouldn't fix the problem for me. I didn't do the hard reset yet because I hadn't backed up my contact list yet, so was putting it off 'til after the weekend. Before I was able to back up my list, they started to work again.

I've noticed the same thing since I upgraded to the new rom. A soft reset does do the trick but you would think Cingular/HTC would fix this inconveinence. Doesnt surprise me though in the least that they havnt.

If a soft reset is not fixing the issue, it is sounding like a hardware issue. If you are within the 30 days, take it back to Cingular and reproduce in front of them. If not, contact HTC.

I have the same problem, although it's with the end call function. I've had several instances where I cannot end a call I'm on. I have had to power off the phone to get the call to end.

I'm having the same exact problem. They just randomly stop working. Every button on the front of the phone! Internet/text/navigation/call/end/ok/alllll of them. Then I put it in standby and wake it and they are fine, until I go to use them again.. generally a few seconds later they stop responding. Happens in the game Worms all the time or when I go to mark a text notification to Read...... VERY annoying... ever since this new ROM!!
