Posts – or messages – are what you create to share information in the AT&T Support Community.
Posts are great places to ask questions, offer opinions, share a new use for a product, etc. The best posts are specific and polite (no profanity, no insulting other users, nothing which violates our Community Guidelines.) Remember, the AT&T Support Community is designed for peer-to-peer communication and is not the best choice to contact AT&T directly. Visit our “Contact Us” pages to reach a support representative directly.
To create a post:
- Navigate to the forum and category of interest (Wireless – Device Insurance, U-verse – U-verse TV – Total Home DVR, etc.)
- Select the “New Message” blue button on the left of the page
- Create a subject for your post in the top “Subject” field. Make it as descriptive as possible.
- Enter the post in the large “Body” field. Enter as much information as needed – but please no personal information like account numbers, street addresses, etc. Notice you can change fonts, add smileys, enter HTML code, upload attachments, run spell check, etc.
- Notice on the right of the page: You can choose to be emailed when another user replies to your post, and/or add tags to your post (so other users can find it easily), and/or not allow your post to be kudo’ed.
- When you’re ready – select the blue “Post” button at the bottom right of your screen.
Look for the “New Message” button on the left of the page to create a post
To reply to a post:
- Navigate to the post to which you want to reply.
- Select the blue “Reply” button in the bottom right of the post.
- The subject line will be the same as the post to which you’re replying unless you change it.
- Enter your response, then select the blue “Post” button at the bottom right of your screen.
You can also choose “Quick Reply” if you don’t want to tag your post, or have the option of receiving thread updates via email.
When users reply to a post, it becomes a “topic” or “thread.” Threads might have two posts – or 2,000 posts. It’s handy to check “Email me when someone replies” within your post so you stay current with a topic in which you’re especially interested. To always be emailed when another user replies in a thread in which you’ve posted:
- Navigate to the thread
- Under “Topic Options” on the left – select “Subscribe”
To manage your email subscriptions, select “My Settings” link by your screen name near the top right of the page followed by “Email Subscriptions” in the “Subscriptions and Bookmarks” section.
Subscribing to replies to all threads in which you participate is an easy way to stay informed
Post (Topic) options:
Check out the “Topic Options” drop-down at the top of the first post in a thread (or topic). If the thread is interesting to you, you can always:
- Subscribe to an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) Feed
- You'll need a feed reader, such as Google Reader, MyYahoo, or the Live Bookmarks feature of Firefox. Once you have created your feed reader, you can find RSS feeds in the community by going to a board, blog, thread, or message and selecting Subscribe to RSS Feed from “Topic Options.”
- Reformat it as printer-friendly - To reformat a topic as “printer friendly”: Select “Printer Friendly” in “Topic Options.”
If you Sign In, you can also select the following actions in “Topic Options”:
- Mark the topic as “new”
- Mark the topic as “read”
- Float the topic to the top of all the threads in this category
- Subscribe to notices of replies on the topic
- Bookmark the topic
- To manage your bookmarks, select “My Settings” link by your screen name near the top right of the page followed by “Bookmarks” in the “Subscriptions and Bookmarks” section
Lots of choices in “Topic Options!”
