I have just signed up for the family map but is this something of a joke? It will locate the cell phone but only in a 2 mile radius, I spoke to technical support and they were of no help. They explained that the program is affected by buildings trees etc, but the map app on the cell phones at the same time have an accuracy of a few yds. I can not understand why ATT can not locate the phone closer than 2 miles and one has to pay for this?? It is the biggest waste on money and they showed be ashamed of themselves.

I agree 100 percent. I have only had the service for a day and so far it's more wrong then right. Very disappointed and most likely will not keep it.

It works great MOST of the time. I have been having the same problem for months now. Whenever my wife goes to her downtown Chicago office, familymap will show her location being 40 miles away. This is NOT the typical wider radius of a few miles when someone is in a building. The map actually showed her within 400 yards of a location 40 miles away! I have screen captures on my iphone showing her at the wrong location at one time and a few minutes later showing her 40 miles east in Chicago, and then back to 40 miles away a few minutes later. ATT level 1 and 2 tech support offered no help. All they can tell me is to delete and re-add her on familymap. I hope it doesn't freak out some parents when their kids are on a field trip to Chicago and familymap shows them in the remote location 40 miles away.
