For making calls within the US, you will need a talk and text plan, such as the 10c a minute plan. The $10 International Long Distance Package is for making calls to other countries from the US.

i am considering this plan just bc i am a oversea student who needs to call home sometime. So do u mean the package doesn't include the US?

That's right. You can buy the International Long Distance Package as an add-on to regular talk and text plans. The package is for making International calls. Calls within the US use the 10c a minute plan, $25 monthly plan or $50 monthly plan.

My assumption was that you were going to use a GoPhone. Is that right? If not, you may have other options. Will someone please post about other non-Gophone options?

one additional idea, get one of the pre-paid international calling cards. you call a local US number, enter the code then enter the international number you want to call.

I don't know your personal usage patterns, but if you don't call hundreds of different foreign number, take a look at Rebtel. http://www.rebtel.com/. They have good rates for calls and foreign texts. They give you virtual US numbers that if you call from your mobile, it connects to your foreign destination instantly. Just save that number in your phone book or speed dial. It also works for text messaging.

If your family in the home country can set up a Skype account on the computer, and if you or your student friend can set up a Skype account on your computer, you can call Skype to Skype for free.
