I was wondering when or if the xperia play 4g would receive the update to 2.3.4? In addition I know its a bit a of a stretch, however I also hope it could receive the ice cream sandwich update as well when available, if so how much longer after release would it take to approve and roll out?

I'm wondering the same thing... I know that 4.0 is supposed to be released in the next few months, wondering if they will have 2.3.4 approved for updating before then.

I got the "update" to the build number 3.01.B.0.285, my guess is it att related as its still 2.3.3 and nothings changed other than the build number. Anyone else notice or know something that pertains to this?

from what iv been reading on SE forums and XDA forums SE has dropped the play from the ICS upgrade list... but 2.3.4 is released in EU. but honestly dont complain about not having the update, you could be on VZW and still be stuck on 2.3.2 and not have the preinstalled games and playstation pocket application. they have just started to get a few of the games.

2.3.4 will not be released by AT&T, per the Sony tech support person I talked to. There are issues with connectivity (WiFi) and with applications not being able to "push" data, such as Gmail, and email notifications in general.
AT&T, when I talked to them, was oblivious to 2.3.4 and the pending doom of ICS for the Sony Xperia Play.

Sony has released 2.3.4 for the Xperia series - but AT&T has not made it available to the Xperia Play. The closest match is the R800i which does load (firmware via FlashTool) but it has LOTS of issues on a Play. Specifically, you can receive calls and talk to folks who call you, but if you place a call, your mic goes dead. Internet connectiviy is also an issue.
2.3.4 DOES EXIST - AT&T Simply behind the ball, as always, to get it to the end users.
