- Please ensure you use WiFi to download the update if you are concerned about data overages.
- If you are already on System Version 13.37, your phone is up to date and you will not receive further updates until future updates are available.
- Note: This is not a 2.1 software upgrade

If you are on System Version 12.1199, 12.1214 or 13.35 an update will be coming to your phone in the future. Please feel free to put your comments here about 13.37

So far so good! I received my updates last night and it went through with only 1 problem! It took all of 10 minutes all together! Only thing causing a problem is, when I but my phone into tabletop mode it stays that way for awhile and then some reason it gets knocked out! Besides that everything is doing great after the updates! When will the 2.1 coming??

So far, this update is working wonderfully...
I originally had the 12.1199 update and had found out it had some bugs in it as in:
- Camera would reset the phone after taking 1 to 3 pictures
- Camcorder would reset the phone if there was too much motion on the screen
- Bad Battery management
- Somewhat sluggish menus
As of now, updated to the 13.37 update today over EDGE...yes EDGE, stinking Branson, MO on vacation down there (home in St. Louis, MO) and their stinking sub-par EDGE network that needs to be upgraded to 3G...ahem...all of the bugs mentioned seemed to be fixed except the battery. My phone is almost dead so I am charging it. I will see about the battery tomorrow and will report back on that.
Thank you AT&T for coming out with the update. Now, just make it to where we can have the same luxury as other Android owners as in:
- Uninstall any program
- Install any program (including not from Market)
- etc (other threads are on this)

I downloaded the update and so far so good. In general, I like my Backflip, but it really needs an OS update. For instance, I want to download the Kindle app but it won't work with the 1.5 OS. Even an upgrade to the 1.6 OS would be an improvement (although I'd prefer the 2.1). I'd like to add my voice to the pleas for OS upgrades throughout this forum. Thanks! ![]()

The upgrade to 2.1 is scheduled for Q3 as found in the link I provided above.

In regards to the Battery, all seems to be well. I have seen a little bit of an improvement in the way the battery is used. Typically, before the update, if my phone was fully charged, by the time I woke up 8 hours later, my battery percentage would be around 93% (This is if WiFi and GPS and Happenings [I don't use Happenings] are all turned off). The only program I have running that would use any network would be Seesmic for my Twitter stuff.
Now, after the update, it doesn't hit 93%, it hits about 95% to 96%. A little bit better.
Normal usage as in the sending of texts and browsing the internet and tweeting, the battery life has improved greatly on that note. Before the update, if I used my phone for an entire day after a full charge, my battery would be drained down to about 30%. This is after heavy usage of texting, browsing internet, tweeting, looking on Facebook, checking the Market for applications, etc.
Now, after the update, it doesn't hit 30%, it hits about 50% to 55%. A significant change I should say.
I can't claim that this will be on all Backflip phones, but it is on mine. This is just my 2 cents and my own observations. Thank you AT&T! Now, get us 2.1 in Q3 with no restrictions or at least the ability to install non-market apps over the internet and uninstall the bloatware we don't need and all will be good. ![]()

Moto_Mark,
I would like to know if there is a more specific answer to when we will get our 2.1 update.
The Flipout already has 2.1 with MOTOBLUR, so what's the problem?

Moto_Mark,
A month after you posted with regards to 2.1 update, still no sign of update. Is it going to roll out at the end of Q3? It seems like it.

Can any forum administrator offer some sort of progress on the Android OS 2.1 upgrade for Backflip? The schedule below has the upgrade "planned" for Q3. Things don't always go as "planned" and I can't find any recent status updates....SO...I think AT&T should update it's customers. Afterall, you advertised the Backflip as "upgradeable". For approximately $2,760.00 a year I think I deserve to know what's going on. Please don't tell me I have to add some new "software update news" feature to my FamilyTalk plan? Thank you.

I suggest you check the Motorola support forums for the information, as that is where Mark primarily posts. Also, they have posted an update stating late Q3/Early Q4 for the upgrade.
CLIQ™, CLIQ XT™ and Backflip™ customers: The quality of experience for consumers is a top priority in providing upgrades to our current product portfolio. In working through Android 2.1 upgrades for CLIQ™, CLIQ XT™, and Backflip™, certain hardware configurations have been limiting upgrade capabilities. We are currently integrating and testing HW drivers essential for OpenGL functionality for these upgrades. We believe OpenGL, the industry's most widely used, supported and best documented 2D/3D graphics API, is an integral part of our customer experience and we're taking the time to ensure this experience is optimized on these products. Testing continues and we anticipate providing the upgrade on each of these devices in the late Q3/early Q4 timeframe. Hi,
I have the System Version 13.37 but still I cannot use the kindle application. It has been downloaded, but all the time that I want to use it, I receive the following message:
The application freekindlebooks (processcom.phonegap.freekindlebooks) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Please could you tell me how to resolve this issue?
Thanks
