I've only used it a short while, but I'm not having any issues with the proximity sensor interfering with calls.

Good, and I am hoping this ROM update will correct an earlier issue with the proximity sensor . Currently, i cannot hold the phone to my ear without the sensor kicking in, causing my voice to go "mute" but if the phone is held an inch away from the ear (which is a funny way to talk on a phone), the sensor does not kick in , the screen stays lit and i can carry a conversation.... hmmm.

I have several questions and would appreciate any help!
Q: Is this ROM official? Is it available on an AT&T or HTC web site?
Q: In the past, a new ROM has meant 2 days work reinstalling all of my third-party software. Is there a shortcut for this?
Q: The thread on the new ROM found on this site appears to reveal overall positive response to the new ROM. Reading on the same subject over on XDA (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=6
Q: I’m having an issue with the World Clock. Mine is essentially missing the GMT+5 Time zone. (http://forums.wireless.att.com/t5/AT-T-HTC/HTC-Wor
Go to the World Clock and add the following two cities; Muscat, Oman, and Tashkent, Uzbekistan. These two cities should be 1 (one) hour apart with Tashkent being one hour later. If they are not, your World Clock is probably completely absent the GMT+5 time zone.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

One of the links given in the first post to this thread is for the updated ROM with updated Radio. If you install that ROM, it will upgrade the radio at the same time. (When you download the ROM, you'll notice the ROM version and Radio version number are part of the file name).

I love the new rom. My only issue is with the weather (Google my location) on the home screen does not update unless I have wifi turned on. And then I don't always get the correct location. I live in Puerto Rico but I get weather for India and Japan LOL. I tried several solutions via online searches including several registry tweaks. I've turned location service on and I have the timezone set to eastern time. This is not really a big issue for me but it would be nice to have it working. Any ideas on how to fix the problem would be greatly appreciated.

No idea what the issue is, but I suspect it's related to your location -- Puerto Rico. I live in the continental US and it works here without any changes. Sorry...

The cell tower polling has to work correctly so maybe there's something wrong with the towers. The weather widget uses only cell tower triangulation and not GPS for location. If it used gps, you'd be fine wherever.
Another thing is PR is not eastern but atlantic time.

Luke6283,
Thanks a million for your response. It will help me in my fight with HTC to get this fixed.
You obviously have the same World Clock error. I’m discovering that this anomaly is inconsistent, but present on many devices/ROMs. I’m assuming that this is a software code error and probably easily fixed with a registry tweak, but this is a bit beyond my ability. Your device, like mine, likely has all GMT+5 cities with the wrong time. Other cities which are wrong include:
Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Dushanbe, Tajikistan
Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
Chardzhou, Turkmenistan
Islamabad & Karachi, Pakistan
I can see from your posting that you are on a Tilt 2. Could you please tell me which ROM you are using? Have you switched to the new ROM, and if so, are you otherwise happy with it?
Thanks again,
Dave

Interesting. I'll start writing another letter to HTC now that I know that the problem is presant in the new ROM as well. Perhaps we can get them to fix the Worlt Time program, as well as add a time zone called "GMT" for those of us who use this time referrance, prior to releasing WM7!
Thanks again,
Dave

I flashed the new ROM yesterday, and have been putting my customizations back on. (I'd forgotten about that silly 1:02 clock flip thing, LOL.) CrudScraper.exe got rid of some of the bloatware, but there's still a ton of it in there. I need to find a thread that explains how to get rid of the rest of it.
It's a nice ROM, but I'm not sure about all the claims as to speed. It seems about the same as the original stock ROM to me.
It certainly has a lot more "bling" than the original - it's as flashy as the original was conservative. We had thunderstorms last evening, and the weather app had clouds floating all over my home screen - kinda distracting.
Network speed: Mobile Speedtest just gave me 1163kbps/0.92sec latency on a 1MB test - about what I'm used to.
Overall I guess I'm happy with it, I'm still getting used to the differences in Sense 2.5.
Mike

Just wanted to add my experience -- similar to others... This new ROM is a winner. Nice enhancements as detailed in this thread. Still exploring. Lots of bloat but am working on that. Improved call strength so far and quick GPS. I would say so far it does have a faster performance flipping around -- not huge but enough to be noticeable. Flash went easily and as expected. It really is surprising that we got this. Kudos for thinking of us HTC business class folk.

My contract is up next month. If ATT still has any Tilt 2s left for one penny should I pick it up. I had the original Tilt and the Fuze and I love both of them.
I was all set to get the Captivate, but I am considering getting the Tilt 2. Will this new ROM make it good enough to keep me satisfied for 2 years?

Hey Mike,
This may help you out for removing some of the bloatware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=5
Could I please talk you into counting back to page 4 item 3 and doing the time zone check for me? I’m going to be contacting HTC again on this issue soon.
Thanks,
Dave

The new ROM doesn't upgrade the processor or screen. The Captivate has a more powerful processor and much sharper, slightly larger screen. But it doesn't have a keyboard.
Suggest you try them out at your local store if they have both models. I was just in my local store last week and checked the Captivate - it wasn't enough to make me upgrade from the Tilt 2 at full price (I have a year to go on my contract). But if I was a the end of my contract, it'd be a tough choice. I love my Tilt 2 w/ keyboard, but that Captivate is one hot phone.

Same here. I'm following a thread on XDA where they're talking about this issue on Sense 2.5 ROM's. Apparently it's cosmetic and doesn't affect actual phone reception or data speeds. I haven't done any tests, but off the cuff I think I've got better reception than before, the same data speeds as before (no change there), but much faster GPS locks. Overall I'm happy.
But - yes, the flipping between 2 bars and 4 bars is weird.

I believe we're going to have a couple of WM7 devices to consider in the next month or two.
WM7 Tilt 3?

Not all Sense 2.5 builds, just the newest one, including the "official leaked" ATT ROM, and the newest Energy ROM (and maybe others). The Sense 2.5 builds up to now have not displayed this behavior, that I know of. I'm running an older Energy build, which has Sense 2.5, and it displays 3 bars just fine.

Try doing a hard reset first and then run the update rom.... remove your storage card and your sim card before flashing...make sure you are connected directly from phone to computer....no usb hub or anything like that in between...Those are the only things I can think of. Will your phone still boot up to the old rom or did it already erase the old rom? Good luck

I'm sure its just me and the way I think, but WM7 looks totally stupid. I hate where they are going with the whole OS. The main user interface is what bothers me the most....I mean I might consider getting a WP7 Device if maybe HTC comes up with something like sense to cover up that crapy black screen with bunch of blue boxes but until then I'm sticking with my tilt 2 for at least another year or two and if I don't see anything changed by then, I'll probaby have to go with an android device.![]()

What OS on your PC? XP, Vista of Windows 7?
