Atrix 4G frequent reboots - started recently

I've had my Atrix 4G almost a year now.  It worked perfectly up until about 3 weeks ago.  It started rebooting randomly throughout the day.  Sometimes the phone would work for 5 minutes between reboots, sometimes 5 hours.  I followed the suggestion posted on Motorola's site to do a factory reset, but a random reboot left me with a nice paperweight.  Luckily the phone was still under warranty.  I received the replacement phone and immediately had issues with the task bar disappearing and the system still randomly rebooted.  Factory reset again, this time successfully, but still had the same problem.  On to the second replacement.  I created a new MotoBlur account this time to eliminate any settings that might be getting pulled in from the old account and purchased a replacement battery since I saw that a bad battery could cause this problem.  It still rebooted randomly and the phone didn't recognize the SD card, even though it was readable on the first replacement that I hadn't sent back yet.  Here comes replacement number 3.  Using the new MotoBlur account with the newest replacement with no apps installed still results in random reboots.  I've even experience reboots at the initial MotoBlur login screen.  I went down to the AT&T store to get a new SIM card since it about the only thing I hadn't replaced yet.  Anyone have any advice or experiencing the same thing?  I love the Atrix 4G, especially the fingerprint reader.  I don't want to get another phone, but the constant reboots are killing me.  I'm missing calls and losing productivity.  At this point I'm willing to try about anything.

I got my girlfriend an atrix in August...did the same thing. I ended up fighting with warranty, and got her a galaxy s2...I never came across a fix, but I have noticed that every att phone that gets an upgrade to a new version ends up with issues. My captivate could handle 2.2, but not 2.3. No one I know of had issues with 2.2 on the atrix, but this reboot thing happens on 2.3. The my infuse flat died on 2.3...think about installing a custom rom...only thing I didn't do...

Yes, I considered a custom ROM and it may be my only choice at this point.  I've looked into several, but most have issues with the fingerprint reader.  Anyone have any experience with a ROM that has a confirmed working fingerprint reader?  I also read that Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) is due to be released third quarter of this year, but I don't know if I can make it that long with an unreliable device.

My atrix started a reboot "loop" the morning of Thanksgiving, 2011.  It's sad, cuz i baby-ed my phone and it was one of the best phones i've ever owned.  Of course, i'd only had the phone just shy of six months!  went to the service store and HAD to get a refurb, but i'd already picked up a Galaxy S2 on black friday, so the atrix is my backup.  They lock you into a 2-year contract, but only warranty the phone for a year.  And i'm finding more and more that the phones don't even last that! 

The reason i checked the forums is that my S2's browser is constantly crashing (yes, tried to clear the cache), and wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing the same.  But my S2 is now about......you guessed it, SIX MONTHS OLD....

anyway, the factory reset is about the only thing you could do to fix yours (mine kept rebooting and i couldn't get to the reset)....  good luck!

I have also experienced same issue with power cycling randomly. On my second handset from Motorola....and it is doing the same thing. In the process of changing to an Atrix 2 under warranty. Frustrated and annoyed....apparently my warranty with Att had ended a couple of weeks prior to the issue starting.... which I believe is something to do with the 2.3.6 update, but luckily still under warranty with Motorola....who are terrible to deal with by the way. Have researched and have found no solutions other than getting a new phone.

Ok Here is what I did after phone rebooted 2 dozen times this last weekend!!  I rooted it(instruction from several android sites are out there).  Then unlocked bootloader(instructions for this also on several android sites)  I then hard reset it and bingo not a reboot Monday morning!!  Good Luck
