Battery inidcator issue in Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket

My skyrocket is having a battery meter issue. I charged my phone to 100% and then it stays at 100% all day even though its not, and then dies even though it says its fully charged. The only way I can fix it is to reset the phone and then it works for the rest of the day until I charge it back to 100 and then the battery meter gets stuck again. I did a factory reset but still the same problem. Looks like a bug. Any one encountered the same issue.

I did experience a similiar issue yesterday. My battery was at a 70% capacity. Then I needed to turn off the phone and remove the battery to get the IMEI information to register my product. When I put back the battery 45 seconds later the phone started warning me that the battery capacity was less than a 15%.

Yes i am having the same exact issue with my skyrocket.  I thought i was lucky to have 100% battery after almost 8 hours of heavy use.  This started happening immediately after i got my rocket.  First full charge and it stayed at 100% until i turned phone off and back on again.  Then it stated the real battery life.  Tried resetting to factory settings.  No apps downloaded whatsoever.

Should i return this phone? 

this is like driving a car with the gas needle poing at full after 300 miles of driving.  Uh.....

I even swapped the phone to confirm this is not the issue with one phone, The second phone had the same battery meter issue. Finally returend the phone. This is a serious bug which needs to be resolved.

Try pulling the battery out and then charge back the battery to full. See if this solves the issue.

Same exact issue for months with the Samsung Focus.  It's a Windows Phone 7.5 device, so the problem must be hardware related and not OS related.

Ok. I went to att store and explained to reps what happened. Without any questions they replaced my skyrocket. That's what I call super customer service. Now. Lets see if this happens to my new skyrocket!

I don't think its a hardware issue. Its possible the battery itself is telling the software. I have new skyrocket and new battery. Cross fingers it won't happen. I love my sgs2 skyrocket.

Tried that. Even a factory reset. Battery indicator still stuck. One point though, it only happens when I charge the phone overnight. From 10 pm to 6 am. Battery level when I placed it on the charger is between 25-35%

Ok. Its the same. Replacement skyrocket does the same thing. Battery stuck at 100% already had phone unplugged for 3 hours. Skyrocket owners who have this issue will be very unlucky coz sammy isn't gonna do anything about this. Oh well.

I get the same thing, it shows always 100% then just turns off without any warning when it runs out of battery. Which also causes issues with the automatic power save modes.

also mine won't turn off when its on the usb charger, if you power it down, it just powers up again.

If you turn off your phone and stick it on USB chsrger it will as default will turn on. You will have to turn off the phone while its plugged in.<br>I may have a solution to this battery stuck at 100% try checking the box where it says battery saving but uncheck all others below that. Mine isn't stuck at 100% anymore after full charge. Now I have a new dilemma. Battery drains too darn fast. hahahaha.

My Skyrocket went dead on the second day I had it; battery meter showed full, but the meter showed zero after I connected the charger.

I loaded a battery meter widget to keep an eye on the meter. All day long both the widget and the phone's meter stated 100%. I even connected the charger every few hours, but I received that the phone was completely charged. After about 6 hours, the meter still showed 100% (I took numerous screen shots as proof) so I powered the phone off & on (as many of the forum folks are stating). When the phone powered up, I had 38% power. Not to bad after a good day's use of texting, email & games, but the phone never showed less than 100% the entire day.

I'm taking this phone back to the store after work. I'm not paying a restocking fee on a defective device!!

Same here guys, no solution found yet. hopefully if enough of us post here someone at at&t will get us an answer. I've gotten in the habit of power cycling my phone every morning for correct battery indication the rest of the day. Best of luck!

I have solved my battery issues. I didn't use my apple wall outlet Usb. I used the one that came with my phone. No issues after that.

Fixed mine. Its not the skyrocket. Don't use the ipbone usb wall charger.

Having same problems. Battery meter is completely screwed up. In addition if I attempt to charge in car with several different adapters it will say charging and just keep draining. Whatever the problem is Saamung and AT&T need to address it immediately. It is unacceptable to be unable to charge your phone in the car or, if others are right, with any USB charger that fits. But mainly to be able to charge in car as everyone knows Android phones do NOT have all day battery life if you actually use the device at all.

I use the charger that came with the phone and have the problem. This is my second phone. Didn't Have the prob with the first one. I reboot the phone after I take it off the charger. Problem solved... Till the next morning.

Its a software glitch as I flashed a custom ROM and no longer have any issues. There is a new update coming to the device that might fix it

If you keep using your phone while charging chances are its going to drain that has happened to my other phones. Not just android phones. I have had same stupid issues but since I didn't use iphone usb wall adapter everything is back to "normal". This is my 4th sgs2 already. I agree this shouldn't happen and att and samsung should do better quality control of their products. When I bought my iphone I had to go thru 3 phones. So at this point I'm kinda used to blooper phones. Lol.

Att jUst had an update to 2.3.6. I don't know for sure if this fixes the battery issue since mine is now trouble free. But the new update is messing up with my Bluetooth. Once a day Bluetooth wont turn on. I have to turn power off then restart. Its a pain in the behind

I am having the same issue. The battery indicator can't be trusted, I have it fully charged overnight, when I go to work the next morning, the phone was fine for the first few hours, and still showing it is fully charged; then my bluetooth told me that it is disconnected from the phone, and the phone is completely dead, without any warning. I called the technical support, they saying that I am not the only one having this issue. I hope it is a software glitch and can be fix over the next update.

Mine has been working ever since I started using the bundled charger. I tested it the other night by using another charger overnight, and the indicator again stuck at full.

You can use another power source to give it a boost, but when giving it a full nightly charge, you need to use the original charger.

It still shouldn't be this way, but at least I can control it.

Same issue here! Using 'Battery Status' from the Market will update the status and give me accurate readings. As soon as I stop using it it stays that same level.

Check out the same thread on androidforums.com, post #78. They say the issue is with the firmware in the battery and having the battery replaced resolves the issue. I will be doing this as soon as the stores open Monday...

Mine is doing fine now as long as I don't use an apple usb wall adapter. I can use any other brands. It accurately displays the battery status.
Now I am in another issue. My Bluetooth has started to fail. It doesn't turn on at times. So when it's on I never turn Bluetooth off in my phone. Oh well that's going to be on another thread I guess.

Mine does it with either charger. But, I have not gotten the update yet, still at 2.3.5. I will see if that makes the difference also
