I'v ebeen searching this board and others looking to see if ATT has given any definitive guadance on when ICS will be released for Skyrocket, other than sometime in 2012. Has anybody seen anything giving a time frame for the release?

You'll be lucky to see it before 2013.
AT&T is in general horrible about releasing updates. It's going to be worse when you're talking about a niche device with oddball hardware, which will put it low on Samsung's priority list.
Just like the I777 likely won't see official ICS until 2013 (look at how long it took for Gingerbread on the Captivate as an example), but will likely see unofficial ports shortly after I9100 ICS goes live (2-3 months or less from now is my guess).
Unlike the I777, the Skyrocket has no international brother to leverage.

"horrible about releasing updates."
No foolin'. Maybe its all the crapware they have to code around. I think I have at least 30 programs frozen with Titanium. You'd think AT&T would want good user experience but apparently there is something that makes more money for them than making their customers happy. Says a lot about us customers that this can happen.

Honestly your better off trying a custom rom than waiting for this to come out. Even when it does you'll have all that bloatware to deal with. Check out XDA forums specifically for Skyrockets, worth a look.

Yes, but which to install. Skyrocketer and the rest seem to have bugs. This a phone I use every day for work and other important stuff not a tablet I play with and can afford some flakyness in. If Cyanogen would release stable version a for this phone I'd use that. What's stable on Skyrocket and which install method is easiset?

Just thought I'd bump this back to the top to see if anyone has any new interesting rumors regarding the availability of ICS on the for Skyrocket whether from official sources or custom ROMS.

They already released a statement saying 2012 ics release. With all the current "outrage" over the OC transformer's ICS release being pushed back two weeks, Att is smart for not releaseing a better guess (cuz thats all it really is) for no other reason than to avoid an even bigger public tounge lashing. But since we must speculate, the Note and the S2 have a 2nd quarter ICS release in Europe. So with some loose math... Note(bigger skyrocket) 2Q + GS2 2Q + Att port and bloat ware = 3rd or 4th quarter 2012. Still within the official release given, so expect December, and rejoyce when you get it early.
For the record, I love my skyrocket running Gingerbread and have had no issues. My wife is in love with her new Note, also no issues. My transformer prime however is buggy running ICS 4.0.3, and ontop of ICS glitches i have to deal with apps that ran flawlessly on gingerbread, either running like crap or not running at all in ICS. With this in mind, its going to be a bit before the apps catch up, and ICS has got its streching done and is ready to "run". Be patient and you will avoid the headache of ICS growing pains.

Who released a statement? AT&T or Samsung? Do you have a link to that?

T said back in November 2011 that the S 2 Skyrocket would get ICS in 2012. But when.
Fragmentation is a huge problem for Android. I switched from iPhone for the bigger form factor becuse the iPhone screen is just too small to see the web on. But if Apple came out with a 4.3" or bigger iPhone screen I'd be back in a heartbeat.
Android is worse than windows on pc's. That market was always fragmented but you could always upgrade a recently purchased machine by buying a new version of windows and loading it yourself because the underlying x86 architecture was the same. But with every ARM chip maker having differences in how they implement ARM there is no hope for anything like sanity in the Android space.

The AT&T Note is a bigger SR, but the international Note is not.
It's gonna be fun running ICS on the I777 1-2 days after I9100 ICS goes live.
SR users will have to wait a veeeery long time.
