I had issues with Kies duplicating all my contact and calendar items starting with the 2nd sync. So I dropped it and started using the free MyPhoneExplorer, which has worked great for me. (It is donation-ware.)

Thanks, bmgoodman! I just bought a Skyrocket, and I'm going to try MyPhoneExplorer before fussing with Kies. I appreciate the suggestion!

AT&T purposfully broke this update to force people to buy the Galaxy S3 according to leaked internal memos.
All the problems you are experiencing are on purpose.

that doesn't surprise me.. at&t breaking devices software wise to force you to upgrade.. just like my S2, they did something in the last update to make the wifi Athena never sleep so now my battery life is crap.. yeah my phone doesn't go into deep sleep anymore causing the cpu to make my idle phone last 8 hours instead of days i used to get 1% discharge every hour on idle it was amazing now im getting 1% discharge every 12 minutes.. thanks at&t!
to someone not tech savvy they might just think their battery is shot and it's time to upgrade or buy another battery and up $ samsung
