If they haven't started on the GB update, they should start work on ICS.
Just saying...

Guys I think it's time to file FTC Complaints. We all got the phone with the promise of getting the Gingerbread ( 2.3 ) update. Instead we are getting the run around. Someone is guilty of false advertising and or defrauding the public.
I have filed my complaint, I think the rest of You should do the same thing.
Since AT&T and or LG isn't giving us the straight answer, we should let Uncle Sam and their legal department start an investigation and ask the questions for us.
One of the government offices that regulates utilities if the Federal Trade Commission. Any consumer can file a complaint about the way a Public Utility misleads, lies and doesn't follow through with the promises they make. In this case AT&T plus LG indicated in their advertisements that the Thrill was going to be upgraded to Android 2.3. The work from the sales people was anytime in the next 30 days You should see the upgrade. At least that is what I was told when I bought my phone, that was in October. It has been pushed back again and again, it's time to try and send some pressure down from the top.
We can also file FCC Complaints, they in turn send a letter to the CEO, of AT&T and they have 30 days to respond and work out a solution to your problem.
FTC is

FCC is at
Wireless and service are the complaint issues to address. You will fill out the form online.
If enough of us take this action then something might be done.

Here is a copy of my FCC Complaint. use what you want from iit..
In October 2011, I purchased a LG Thrill phone from AT&T. Some of the phone features and abilities were not functioning. This was due to the limitations of the Android version that was installed on the phone, Version 2.2. In all of the advertising from AT&T as well as LG ( the maker of the phone ) web pages that I referred to for my purchase, all consumers were advised that the phone would be upgraded to Android Version 2.3 shortly. This was confirmed by the sales people in the AT&T stores too, as well as through answers given to AT&T Thrill users on AT&T support sites. This upgrade has never made it to the people who purchased the LG Thrill from AT&T. We have been lied too, deceived and may have been defrauded by our purchase of the AT&T (LG ) Thrill cell phones. If nothing else AT&T is guilty of advertising a product and service that it has never produced. Like me there are 100's of thousands of people who purchased this phone based on information from AT&T. They have not delivered.

What is the address of at&t or Samsung to file the complaint. Samsung states on there website the phone is upgradeable. At&t distributed it but currently doesn't state it. Though the phone is defective & my son on his third warranty replacement. Once for hardware issue. Twice for software issues. The 3d is in double vision & is in need of a software update. What should I do.

You are now chatting with 'Roslyn '
Roslyn : Hello! My name is Roslyn. I am currently looking over the answers that you gave in the Pre-Chat Survey. Thank you for filling it out. It helps us in RESOLVING the reason for you contacting us here via AT&T Live Support TECH Chat. One moment, please . . .
Roslyn : I am sorry for this upset, Mr. W. Any software updates are through the manufacturer of the phone. I can look to see IF we have any updates. If not, we are asked to direct software inquiries to LG.
Roslyn : I am looking at the internal site re. information received through the manufacturers. There is currently nothing re. the GINGERBREAD.
lamar W: I'm just wondering because the optimus 3d and lg p925g same exact phones have the update. seems like att is not releasing it for some reason
Roslyn : We get these type of inquiries about software on a daily basis, Mr. W. As soon as we have it . . . AT&T will be happy to release it. Often times when I look at the internal site, it lets us know IF there is a delay. I am currently seeing nothing about your model. I am sorry.
lamar W: are u saying the phone won't be updated?
Roslyn : No . . . I am explaining that there is currently nothing in the list about your phone, Mr. W. If it were NOT going to be UPdated, the notification would be on this internal site in order to explain to customers such as yourself.
lamar W: Ok, thanks
Roslyn : You are welcome
Roslyn : My notes will be on your account re. today's inquiry, Mr. W.

Version 2.3.5 is available on LG's website. I just updated my Thrill and confirmed it is now running version 2.3.5. You will have to download the USB drivers from LG's site as well as their update tool. Once connected it will scan your phone and confirm what version you have. Then check the LG server for a newer version. it will download then unpack and install the newer version. It took maybe 15 minutes tops to do it all.

Not to double post, but I forgot to supply a link to the update page at LG. This link has the info you need to do the update. there is a link on the page if you scroll down for drivers and updates.

I can report I did it myself. You can't get it via over-the-air or wifi "Software Update" option, you need to download LG Mobile Support Tool, and *THIS IS KEY* (LG site doesn't tell you this and I figured it out after a couple of failed tries), enable USB debugging. Using the LG software, and not enabling USB storage when plugging the phone into the PC I got 2.3.5 update to download (400+ MB) and install. I can also say I enjoy the improvements to the UI (speed AND icons), the battery life, the Video editor and am stoked on the flash working with the 3D camera now. I've been waiting for this update since November and am glad they finally got it done. Better late than never.
BTW, 1st time post - I was just so stoked about actually installing the update I had to let people in this thread know and offer help if they need it. All the best.

Enabling USB debugging is actually standard procedure for USB updating. Even when flashing custom ROMS over USB it has to be enabled. They most likely forgot to mention it to deter people from being able to successfully update without a push update from their provider. That way in the event something goes wrong it would fall on the provider and not LG.

I see that the European version called optimus 3d has received a Gingerbread 2.3 update. When will the LG Thrill receive it's update to Gingerbread? This was promised months ago and I have not heard anything else about it.

I do love the LG Thrill. The camera is great, 2D pictures are sharp, 3D pictures are awesome. The Android Version 2.2.2 does eat a lot of battery juice quickly. It would be nice if AT&T would get off their tushy & upgrade the Android Version. Otherwise, I am enjoying this phone with every feature available to it.

I would also like to know if AT&T is ever going to get around to updating from the antiquated 2.2 Froyo on the LG Thrill 4G. I purchased this phone liking the specifications, but reluctantly because it currently (and still does..) run 2.2. The sales representative assured me that plans for the 2.3 Gingerbread update were in the works and it should be available "any day now".
This was in early October. I called the LG customer service line and was immediately rebuttled and told the issue was with AT&T and they couldn't give me any further information. Can someone with any inside information whatsoever please weigh in? If we can't get an official response or release date I would like to know if it's possible to exchange my Thrill 4G for a replacement phone that isn't so outdated and unsupported.

I was one of the first persons to buy the LG Thrill back in September. They actually had to locate the phone and get it. I was told that the phone had Android 2.2 installed on it, but the Android 2.3 operating system would be out any day. Of course any day hasn't happened yet. Talking with AT&T's customer service is a waste of time. I have been in contact with LG and the update is out...LG says AT&T hasn't submitted for the update and AT&T is saying LG hasn't released the update to them. What I don't understand is: The LG Thrill is one of AT&T's newest phones. Why wasn't it released with the Android 2.3 OS already on it???

Check back to the LG Product page periodically for official updates.
If you want Gingerbread and you want it now, check with XDA...they've had it for a while. Caution though, if you use advanced methods to update your phone unofficially you will VOID your warranty. Unless you're a very capable advanced user, I would stick to the official LG product page.
