Since At&t has no way for me to email my complaint letter to corporate I guess this forum will have to do.
In January 2012 my HTC Inspire that I purchased new and had for I believe less than a year the volume down button on it stop working. I took it to an At&t warranty center and they provided me with an HTC Inspire Replacement Phone #1. On February 9, 2012 (about two weeks later) the volume down button on that phone stops working and I got to the At&t warranty center and they give me an HTC Inspire Replacement Phone #2. On February 1, 2012 (the very next day) I go to the At&t warranty center because the charge light on the phone they gave me the day before will not turn off. They then give me an HTC Inspire Replacement Phone #3. On February 14, 2012 I go back to the At&t warranty center because my phone just started vibrating non-stop on it's own and it booted itself up in safe mode and I couldn't use the phone. Turns out that one of the volume buttons was stuck. They then give me an HTC Inspire Replacement Phone #4. Fast forward to the end of June 2012 and the volume up button on Replacement Phone #4 starts to go. Eventually it dies the week of July 1st. So I can't use the volume up button at all. I call At&t and they inform me that the replacement phone is out of warranty. You only get 90 days per phone. So in order for me to get a working phone I can 1) go through my insurance and pay $125 for another HTC Inspire Replacement phone 2) Do an early upgrade but I would have to pay for the price of the phone and an additional $70 - $100. I do not want to do any of those because it cost me money. What I want is for them to give me another replacement phone that can hold me over to my real upgrade date of November 2012. Obviously based on the history and the frustration that I have had something could be done. I have been a loyal customer since 2003 and to them it means NOTHING!! And when you get off the phone with them they want to "Thank you for your business" PLEASE THAT IS A JOKE!! I am required to pay my bill for a phone that's barely working. Because the volume up button no longer works because it is stuck inside the phone my phone continuously freezes and reboots itself whenever it wants. I cannot wait until my upgrade date in November because I cannot wait to CANCEL ALL THREE LINES I HAVE WITH THIS COMPANY! After the high praises I have given about At&t and recommended friends and family to this company. I am thoroughly disgusted, frustrated and most of all DISAPPOINTED in the way I have been treated!

That's definitely an option. But what I am upset about is At&t's lack of willing to even try to help seeing as how I have had the same trouble over and over within only a few months.

Maybe I miscounted, but your post reads like you are actually on your 4th phone, not 6th.
Regardless, that sucks. I had a problem with my wife's AT&T phone a few years ago. She had a LG Xenon, and we went through 2 replacements after each one broke.
Finally, after the 3rd time it broke I got on the phone and demanded they replace it with another model as this model seemed to have problems (Each time the screen would stop rotating and eventually crash and become unusable.) They did not let me choose the model I got but they did give us a better, comparable phone. (Another LG unfortunately, but it did work). This lasted her until she was eligible for an upgrade. Interestingly enough, she got a HTC Inspire 4G and hasn't had any problems with it.
This is an Android device, did you check to see if there is an app that controls the volume that might work and give you a workaround until you can upgrade? What about leaving the volume all the way up and then just muting it when you don't want it to make noise?
I would get on the phone with a rep, explain the problem rationally, and request a replacement phone. If you are a good customer and are paying your bills on time, hopefully they should help you out.
Good luck.
