Samsung Captivate - $349.99 or $499.99?

It has been advertised as $349.99, by AT&T itself, for several days, on Facebook, Twitter, and various news outlets.  Now it is being said that it will be $499.99 on ATTs facebook page.

Which is it?

I have been told $349 for several days even by my local corporate store. Just left and was told $499. Thats BS to change after giving one price. Looks like I might be going to Verizon afterall.

the last posting i was seeing was 199 that was released by att itself.

that 399 must be the full price of the phone without a contract or upgrade option, or instant rebate.

Just bought mine...$499 no contract. I argued and tried to find the post on Facebook, but couldn't to save my life...or $150. I paid the $199 in the end.

You were dogging everyone in the Desire thread as well for not getting an Nexus, yet you don't even have an N1.  I don't think any of us believe you have either of these devices. $499 would be a lot cheaper than the NEXUS eh that was like $630 no contract.

You keep saying I dogged people about getting an N1. All I did was speak from my experience. If I could have got a desire fully compatible with AT&T, I would have. The N1 is a great phone. I still have it. I'm not sure why it says I'm posting from a Hero, its a Captivate. When I post from the N1, it says I post from "android SDK". I guess because the N1 has Froyo on it and the forum doesn't recognize it. Same with the Captivate.
The Nexus was $569 including tax.

Wow, I was planning on getting the Captivate tomorrow no contract for 350.00? So it seems my plan is foiled..I upgraded to the Iphone4 for 499.99 and bought stupid bumper for 30.00 and 150.00 Micro cell which i was planning to return everything and put 330.00 back into my pocket and have my contract backdated..Bummer if this is true now

At Walmart it is free w contract which also includes a free car charger, no activation fee and $229.99 w/o contract (no car charger). I just ordered mine and it will be here in 2 days. I called all the Walmarts near me but their cell phone dept. was not opened yet. I wonder how much it is at the store.

You do know not all website display the correct phone or system right?  It's not just AT&T message board.  Nexus One will only say posting from Android SDK.  I would know because I have one.  And where are you getting $630 for a nexus one.  The samsung is selling like $30 cheapers and still stripped from key Android features.  N1 is only $529 so where are you getting this $630 number?

And don't expect the Galaxy S to get a Android 2.2 update anytime soon as you will have to wait for 1. Samsung to even build a 2.2 update and 2. for AT&T to approve it. 

Not even the desire will be getting the 2.2 update anytime.

I called them and they put me on hold. I hung up because I was running late for work then I decided to stop by at the ATT store near me and they had it for $349.99 and I bought it. I later cancelled my $229 order with Letstalk, good thing I did because I heard it was an error and all the orders were cancelled. However, they did offer a $100 discount to those who had ordered, so $399.99 is still better than $499.99 from ATT.

Don't cry...I got mine yesterday at the ATT store for $99. Yes, I was due for an upgrade and have been a customer for 15 years. At $99 it's a steal!

$99 is for those either (1) Paid AT&T a lot of $$ per month (>$100 on primary account) or (2) Haven't upgraded for ages. If you're one of those, you get the additional discount -- AT&T made enough money out of you every month and you really deserve a free phone

For me, I just can't live with any phone for more than a year.
