Whenever i try to connect my phone period....whether it be in storage mode or to Kies or even to Media player the phone absolutely refuses to just connect. When connecting to Kies or Media Player, it just says initializing then soon after it just blanks out and goes to home screen. Note that i have the drivers installed and this worked perfectly fine just the other day. For some reason it just refuses to connect.

From within Kies Mini, there's an option to reinstall the drivers. Try that first. Otherwise, try a different cable as has already been suggested.

Re-installing drivers was the first thing i tried.
And should a new cable work even though like litterally a day before it worked fine?

Did you install and use any 3rd party launcher? The USB storage connections will break if you are not using the default Touch Wiz launcher.

No i did not, but after turning the phone on and off several times i regain mass storage but still can't connect to kies and media player. The phone never gets pass initializing, and always blanks outto the home screen. But i will give the new cord thing a try since i have 2, 1 hooked up now to this laptop and 1 at work...too bad i'm off today. All of this happened after the 2.3 Gingerbread update...Gingerbread is great for a brand new phone but for people like me who had to update it through Kies, it was a nightmare...tethering manager kept force closing, phone would crash and turn itself off, the phone would crawl, even affected my bluetooth.
I'm sure i won't deal with this any longer as i am planning to just get a Galaxy nexus international phone pre-loaded with 4.0 but its a headache till then.
I do appreciate the timely response and the help. Thanks.

Since you're having so many issues with the phone, have you tried a master reset? That seems to clear up a lot of the problems people have had with the update.

Yea i did a master reset on the 11th and right after Gingerbread started working again without force closing tethering manager and without crashing the phone. That same day i put most of my media back on the phone and all apps. Then later that week on the 13th after work....this problem arrose....So it's like my phone has a mind of it's own and like it's a rebelious teen and refuses to do what i want some of times...
