I would wait for stable leak to come out... all I need is nice performance of my phone... I think Att crap will release ICS after Samsung releases NOTE II... LOL
I was an apple fan last year... switched to samsung because theylaunched cool phones... but Samsung is unable to handle customers as apple does.... my hatred is increasing day by day...

Be helpful if you noted what device you are talking about.

Coming months? MONTHS?! I bought the Samsung/AT&T flagship at the end of November 2011. It's been a full 6 months so far and it still hasn't been released, and we don't even have a definite time frame. Months is plural. Months could be 12 months, or more!
I left T-Mobile because they, and Motorola, sucked at getting software updates out, and when they came out, they were ladened with poor quality bloatware. I naively hoped AT&T, and Samsung, would be different. Nope. Might as well be the same company (almost was!)
AT&T, if you want to truly differentiate yourselves, stop with the blaotware slowdown and just give us our updates. I'll even PAY for it! If nothing else, give us actual information, and quit stringing us along!

AT&T is infamous for slow release of updates. If you are freaked out about having to wait, it may be a rough haul for you. "In the coming months" is indeed vague. June is a coming month, but so is December. May be next month, may be many months from now.

Yup. If you want timely updates, international unlocked phones are the way to go.
Samsung was one of the first manufacturers to release updates for non-Nexus phones (I9100 got updated in March). HTC beat them by only a week or two for some models, and every release before that was either a Nexus or a tablet.
Also, if you bought the Skyrocket, that's not a "flagship phone" - Samsung's flagship is the I9100, and the Skyrocket has no commonality with it whatsoever. Now the I777 - that could be considered a flagship phone due to being nearly identical to the I9100. (Touchkeys, NFC, slightly different modem interface, and swapped microphones - that's it.) - Due to these similarities, community porting efforts had I9100 firmwares fully working on the I777 about a week after kernel source was released.

My point about flagship is that, at the time, there were only two LTE-capable phones that AT&T had to offer, and they marketed it heavily (even though their LTE rollout lags woefuly behind Verizon's even to this day). And, it's buyers remorse that I realized only AFTER purchasing that the Skyrocket wasn't just an LTE-capable Galaxy S II with a bigger screen, but quite a bit different. Had I known that, I probably would've gotten a regular Galaxy S II. That said, I don't regret the bigger screen, and I don't think I'll regret my LTE capabilities somtime in 2014 when AT&T rolls it out to my large, metropolitan area.

What's the problem AT&T? Release the update already. Love the phone, but this is getting redicules. At least with Apple, didn't have AT&T slowing down the works.

You basically answered your question there. AT&T is in bed with Apple and will do anything to keep them happy - including utterly and horrifically mangling all of their Android handsets.
It's the only possible explanation I can think of for AT&T constantly delaying updates for "quality control testing" and consistently releasing the most buggy firmwares possible. Without fail - every AT&T release for the SGH-I777 so far has been abysmal crud full of bugs not present in an GT-I9100 firmware release. I777 UCKK6 is proof positive that AT&T's claims that they hold back updates for quality control purposes is an outright lie.

I checked the URL n saw that the announcement was announced on March 22, 2012. There written HTC Vivid™ will be the first U.S. smartphone to receive Ice Cream Sandwich as an update and the first to be issued by a wireless carrier. It will be followed by several other AT&T devices in the coming months. Now its June 2012. Coming months is not minimum satisfactory date or time frame
Thanx in Advance

Every day I check for software updates and am continually dissapointed. Your answer that no one nows when the update to 4.01 will be available is not correct. I know that someone in the AT&T universe out there knows exactly what is going on. As a "valued customer" all I ask is that you keep me informed and stop being vague. I spent a ton of money on this phone, and I want the best possible operating system for it. Is it to much to ask to be kept informed with reliable information?

If you don't want to root it you don't NEED ICS you just want it for some unknown reason. What features are you craving so badly?

There's no way I'm getting rid of the Note just because of an update - I like the phone so much in fact, that I just purchased the international version in pink - it's so beautiful.

I just said "Very Soon" because it'll come eventually, I don't know any specific details. "Very Soon" could be tomorrow, next week or in next few months, little patience and everything will be alright. It'll get here.
I am an AT&T employee and the postings on this site are my own and don’t necessarily represent AT&T’s positions, strategies or opinions.
This is yet another ICS request for SGS2
