Oh boo hoo ya'll.  I paid full retail for my note.  Like dudes been saying there are leaks out there for you but there not exactly stable so if you want lackluster performance from your phone then stop crying and root and get the leaked rom.  If you want it to perform well then shut up and wait for the release.  Its a phone.  Call you still call and text people?  Yes?  THEN WHATS THE  PROBLEM!!!!  If you want it so you can pride yourself on having the "latest and greatest" crap then you really need to check your priorities in life.

Loyal customer of AT&T cell service since the 90s - and I Love my Note.

But I absolutley HATE the fact that AT&T cares so little about its customers that purchase flagship devices and plans that it will insult them with these redicullously long waits for updates. And we all know it's so they can "customize" it with their crap nobody wants or uses. Just let us download and install your bloat if we want it. I like "Messages" but why on earth would anyone use "At&T maps". I bet the employees don't even use it.

AT&T, let us choose our AT&T apps and get updates out for your devices in a reasonably timely manner. I dont't think anyone minds waiting for a bit, but the AT&T Android updates are just laughable - and always have been. I've had ICS on my Asus Transformer for months and I bought it long before my Note. Why I keep thinking things will change I don't know. This Note/ICS siutation has made me give up hope that AT&T will ever treat their Andoird customers as seriously as their iPhone customers.

Uhm...the Note is about a lot more than "calling and texting" people. If that was all I needed why would I have bought a Note? Don't be daft.

And it has NOTHING to do with pride - it's about performance and functionlity that is made available by the maker of the software platform the Note runs on. And that performance and functionality shoudl be available to all customers of that platform. Especially considering just about everyone else on the planet has the update.

Have you ever used ICS? Surely you see the real and tangible benefits. Why would anyone defend AT&T on this?

Not to mention, I pay AT&T healthy sum for its services. And as part of those services I expect to receive subsidized devices with at least somewhat remotely reasonable update time frames...you know, like other carriers offer. :-)

Last 11th June T-mobile releases the ICS for Samsung Galax SII which is same as skyrocket. But now it ending of June no news abt ICS for Skyrocket frm AT&T??

I have used ics and it is 100% more fun than using gb but it still doesnt hurt the main functions of the phone. The phone still works without ics yes? Just be happy you get this luxury of being able to use such a device when the majority of the population of the world is restricted to old school flip phones or less. Ya'll sound so spoiled it's unreal.

What the rest of the world uses does not change the fact that ICS for the Note should have been released right now. Spoiled? No, I paid for my device just like everyone else here.

As for the other ROM's available, Samsung generally doesn't release the source code until the carrier has released the update. With the source code comes the possibility to customize the ROM's much more then currently possible.

This thread is about what AT&T is (or in this case isn't doing) to get ICS on the Note they sell.

What half the world is doing isn't really applicable here.

I have heard that ICS is still kind of buggy.  At least AT&T is holding off a general release until the issues are more or less resolved.  If you really really want ICS now, you can easily root your device (google it or uTube it) and install it yourself.

I don't doubt that there are others in this boat, but I've been eagerly awaiting news on exactly when my newest smartphone will finally get the upgrade to ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS 4.0.3 from Gingerbread 2.3.6.x.xx. Out of desperation I turned to my reportorial skills and asked the head office, a genial tech support person at my special coded telephone number, AT&T Enhanced Support--that is available to those of us on AT&T *only* who want/need/might need after hours 24/7 support on our AT&T smartphones of virtually any variety.

I was online about another tech issue with advanced features on the Samsung Note at the time, at about 10PM PST, and when I asked if the agent knew about when we'd be getting the update/upgrade to ICS he went offline for a couple moments and then told me: "The AT&T update is due for release to Samsung Galaxy Note owners with AT&T *only* on July 13, 2012!"

I know that this seems a trifle late for our Note phones to get the fantastic upgrade to the latest version of ICS but such is life with AT&T it seems. It's a known fact that the Galaxy Note is stable as can be, or possibly can be, on the present OS 2.3.6.x.xx, so it's almost a risk one maybe doesn't have to take to get excellent service on the Note. I'll be among the 1st adopters I assure, and simply wanted to get this out to the genial other Note owners who might be reading this blog on the "top 5 smartphones of the summer", so there you go!

Personally I couldn't be more pleased with the performance and overall abilities in multi-tasking and just blazing fast speeds all the way around using my Samsung Galaxy Note phone, but then again who wouldn't want even more? And it's supposed to get just like that with the additional trappings that come with the ICS update/upgrade on the Note.

So here's to the best smartphone that *wasn't on this so-called best 5 smartphones of summer* list, our mighty and svelte huge 5.3" AMOLED-screened Galaxy Note smartphones. That wait for ICS is virtually over, and if you hadn't already heard the news of the ICS update somewhere else, you've now officially heard if from the horse's mouth at AT&T insider service.

That's great news i hope so but my galaxy note is working great without the ics os right now so Im not rushing it to come i can't wait till the galaxy note 2 come out in October its going to blow away the s3 specs and they said it will come with jellybean os cant wait for the note 2

Anyone who finds the performance of this phone as good or acceptable has to be coming from a significantly older device. An older iPhone is more fluid and responsive than this ATT crippled POC ICS is not going to change that. The hardware is simply inferior.

I am seriously considering leaving AT&T and going to Verizon. I am very dissapointed with the lack of customer service from AT&T regarding this matter.

U right about that but at&t always been slow on android updates they will never give the date when its released and i agree the note is the best phone out in my opinion can't wait till October when the note 2 come out im not going back to a smaller screen

The problem here is AT&T being slow and not communicating the status at all.

I realize they don't have to as there are only so many options and the same holds true across other vendors in the US it seems.

What baffles me is that AT&T seemingly haven't taken customer service - basic course. There you learn to emphatize, say you understand and try to make something better for the customer.

Instead you get nothing or from various AT&T employees (who mean well) you get questioned why you need it, why you can't wait, why you can't understand they will release it when they want to and other similar responses.

As it is until there is an alternative that has comparable service/coverage and they can provide better customer service this will not change.

I'm hoping for the July 11'th/13'th (Can't remember) so AT&T keeps pace with Telus on what they have publically said they can deliver.

I'll stop my rant as this situation sadly doesn't seem to change.

I was told the pen is great to use but it will note really work until the ICS upgrade, which is just around the corner. That was in March.  Now July and still no ICS, Jelly Bean is out. Is AT&T going to wait until the fall and go right to Jelly Bean.

At&t is sending me a replacement note i717 because i get my texts hours later or have to reboot to get them. Wonder if it will have ICS or gingerbread?

It gets more insulting every day. So now we have a GNote comming on another carrier with ICS. The S3 has ICS and soon JB. And even the S2 has ICS?!?!? What? It's just sad.

And the customers who paid for the flagship AT&T device (and were told they'd get ICS) are still waiting in limbo - while international carriers have already upgraded their customers. This is utterly rediculous. At least tell us when/if it's coming. I'm losing faith that we'll ever see it.

AT&T - this is infuriating some of your best customers. Just tell us what is happening! As another poster mentioned - it's customer service 101. And frankly Samsung should be furious with AT&T as well. We' re about to be two OS generations behind.

And for those of you who don't like "the whining" - perhaps don't read the posts. As a paying customer I have a right to express my very valid dissstisfaction with this situation. (Unless of course you want to start buying my phones and paying my bill for me). 

So please AT&T, give us  heads up : days? weeks? months? never?

I saw on The Verge or BGR, The NOTEII is being moved up to a September release, with JB. That may be the fastest way for y'all to get ICS, or better, on a Note, other than rooting. Of course that release will be the international version, and hopefully they will do it like they did the GSIII, and TRY to release to all carriers shortly after the Intl. release.

I'm sure he's running ICS on his phone, and if he is, it's been rooted and running a custom ROM. The employee's don't get upgraded any sooner than the rest of us.
