That's absolutely true. Online, they don't have a way to add in your existing data plan and, especially if you have the unlimited one that is no longer offered. Best Buy.com has the same issue. You have to go into the store to get the additional $100 off. How much tax did they charge you? Was it on the discounted price or the retail, no committment price ($749) ?

Let's clarify:
1. If you have a premier account with AT&T, your price through AT&T.com is $399 unless you sign up with a new line ($100 instant rebate applies to new line only).
2. If you don't have a premier account with AT&T, your price through AT&T.com is $299. And there is possibility that you can get additional $100 off through some online coupon link. It works for some.
3. If you go to retail store, your price is $299 regardless of your account type.
4. If you go to Bust Buy retail store to pre-order, you get $299 price + $50 BB gift card + a free flip case. If you have unlimited data, you can ask BB or AT&T rep to keep it.

So that's not what I want to happen. May have to wait until I can get into a store unless BEST BUY can keep the data plan current.

I preordered mine through Best Buy.
My question for you guys with family plans is, on the AT&T site, does it let you upgrade with lines that still have a contract on the same $299 price? Just curious.

Upgrade eligibility should be different than your contract length. For most ppl, it will be about 18 to 20 months into your contract when you are eligible to upgrade. There are a lot of factors affect how soon you can get your upgrade.
Best Buy should just check your upgrade eligibility from AT&T which should be the same results as you do through AT&T,

I preordered mine through premier this morning and I currently have the unlimited data plan on my iPhone. There was an option that had unlimited data on it so I clicked it. Also, I didnt have to add a line to get the $100 instant rebate either. I just used my upgrade. Hope this helps.

Trying to oreorder thru best buy didn't work this morning online cause there isn't a button to select to "upgrade" only to add to cart which makes you pick a new plan.
And the online chat session didn't help. Next is to call and hopefully I can get results then.
However to note if you preorder they best buy the phones wont ship till "after 2/19" so you wont get the phone till sometime the week of the 20th.
Food for thought if the want tgw phone faster. Otherwise preorder thru ATT and you'll get it by the 19th (hopefully )

ATT has a mess on their hands - I have talked with 4 ATT reps so far over the weekend and currently this Premier process is still broken. This is a classic case of customer service at its worst by taking one of your most loyal/business oriented customer base - (call them your "Premier" or "first" customers) and completely bungling their online/store upgrade process.
Having a nationally advertised event on TV announcing a product, and then not having the department open on Sunday to resolve customer pre-order issues is a serious overlook.
When I first contacted ATT at 1 am on Feb 5th and told them of the problem - was told "sorry this cant be fixed until Monday". It is now Monday afternoon, and I finally can see that half the issue is fixed - the $100 instant rebate now shows up instead of disappearing in the cart - however the selection of a new data plan requirement still prevents me from pre-ordering the phone.
Hasn't someone figured out how to turn the form's required field off yet for Premier customers - or at least allow their CSRs to override the field ? Ridiculous....
For this pre-order process, ATT Premier is sure looking like ATT Derriere....we will definitely be last to be able to order this phone...

foxbat121,
The new line requirement is not correct. Upgrades also qualify for the $100 rebate below - see the terms below -"Upgrade customers may keep their existing data plans"
Samsung Galaxy Note(TM) (Carbon Blue)
$100 off Samsung Note(TM) after instant rebate with qualified voice and data plan. Additional restrictions apply.
Limited-time offer. Flat Rate, FamilyTalk®, and Add a Line plans are eligible. Upgrade customers may keep their existing data plans or move to new qualified data plans.

I haven't tried the Premier site today but last night that's what it said as well, "customers can keep their exsisting data plan," but when you go through the process there is not a selection to keep the exsisting plan, only to select a new one.

Well, i don't have to worry about the Premiere site anymore.
Looks like whatever glitches Best Buy had was worked out.
I was able to get the pre-order for $299.99, the buttom for upgrade was there, and everything else synced up fine.
So I got the phone for $299, plus $50 BB card, plus free case ($34.99).
Not a bad value IMHO.
AND it says with free delivery it'll arrive between 2/10 and 2/15. Not sure if that's true, even-though at the beginning of the process it said (to ship after 2/19). And even ATT won't ship till 2/15.
So we'll see!

I was having an issue with getting the 100 rebate.
Resolved today with support. Had to update my voice plan (mine was a holdover from 2008/2009 with my Iphone 3 purchase).
Updated to equivalent plan, logged out, logged back in, clicked upgrade link and went through the previous steps and the 100 dollar rebate showed.

I suppose that was my problem as well, however, I didn't want to change my plan to the exsisting plans they gave me to choose from.
My current plan is the 4GB package for $45 but the website had a choice of a 3GB plan for $45.00. Even-though I rarely ever approach 4GB, i didn't want to lose it.
My "old" plan was based on the 200MB, 2GB, or 4GB Enterpise options.
Looks like now it's 300MB, 3GB, or 3GB Enterprise (not 100% sure on the standard 3GB option, I beleive that is what it is).
And if I could go to Bestbuy and get the same thing and HAVE the option to keep my current plan, thus I went that route.

Just a tip, there is nothing a personal data plan can't do that your enterprise plan can. You pay extra for enterprise level customer support which I can't think any reason you will need on your data plan.

I didn't mean enterprise. I meant tethering. I have the 4Gb tethering plan so I can use my phone a ls a wifi hotspot.
It comes in handy as I use it with my Xoom wifi only tablet.

Got it. Enterpise data plan is quite different than tethering data plan. They are not the same thing. Enterprise data plan does not incluide tethering. And you are probably compaing the wrong plan all along ![]()

Well I would smoke the 300MB by the 2nd week in the month! Why no option for a 3Gb personal let alone no option for tethering.
Interesting other note the plan was for "4G LTE smartphones"
Currently I have an Infuse 4G not a LTE phone.
At Bestbuy my options were to simply keep my exsisting plan. Now I wonder if that is going to mess me up? Do I HAVE to get a new plan since this is a 4G LTE phone?

You will have to be provisioned to a LTE plan in order for any LTE phone to work with LTE network. But that's just a phone call away to AT&T CSR. Or you can ask BesyBuy CSR to do it for you if they are capable. I don't know why AT&T site doesn't list any other plans. But I'm sure you will be able to keep what you have today but provisioned to use LTE.

Yeah, I hear that, I had to get provisioned when I went from my Cappy to the Infuse 3G to 4G. looks like I'll have to do that again.
And at the same time I don't even think we have LTE around here yet....

I was able to keep my Unlimited data plan w/o having to switch to an LTE data plan. I did it all in the store
