I'm not so sure about that. Samsung is known to release new firmware *fixes* that creates more bugs than it fixes. Just ask those poor Samsung EPIX owners

I was just told by the Rockwall, TX AT&T store that the GalaxyS2 would be "around the end of the year". If this is the truth and the other 2 carriers are getting their Galaxy S2's on Friday, I'd consider switching carriers....anyone else got any leads?

Is it just me or does no one at any store know anything? I mean I spoke to a few and they didn't even know about the phone, they thought I was talking about the Galaxy S not the Galaxy s II.

I chatted with a rep online while I was checking my upgrades and all she could say was that they didnt' have it available yet. Of course, that was after I told her I was looking into the Galaxy SII and she said she could help me with that. Seems they aren't real "up to date" on exactly what they DO offer.

I just talked to a rep at a store near me.  They confirmed that Sunday they will go on sale, and they have already received the phones in the stores.  SO, the 18th it IS.

What is the difference between the Infuse and GSII? GSII screen is minimally smaller, (has GB, although Infuse is "supposed" to get it) but otherwise, looks like the same phone..pretty much.

If Infuse is lame duck (odd since it was just release approx. 4 months ago) why run two almost identical phones side by side at ATT?

I ask because I may upgrade my wife's Cappy for s II and then I'll give her the Infuse!

Infuse has single core CPU while GS2 has dual core CPU. Infuse has 512MB memory while GS2 has 1GB memory.

Ahhh, and I'm guessing the dual core will have what? 1.2 or 1.5 Ghz? So even better than the infuse in that respect.

The memory is what I'm liking as well.

Did they specifically say they had the samsung Galaxy S2?  There are several phones being released on Sunday and the GS2 is not on the official list.

There are a couple of videos that compare the Infuse with the S2 side by side on youtube. I wish I had waited for the slightly smaller GS2 instead of getting the Infuse. I love the phone but it is a little quirky sometimes. I think the dual core processor and 1GB memory will be a lot more stable. Think I'll get it for my daughter when it comes out, though.

Hopefully they release it soon. Just got an Infuse today and I might just exchange it foe a Galaxy s2 when it comes out.

1.2GHz Samsung Exynos processor with a much more powerful Mali-400 GPU.

There are other differences as well. AT&T version of GS2 also have NFC. Dual-band (2.4 and 5) wi-fi. And Android 2.3.4 out of box.

Infuse is a mid-range phone. GS2 is high end phone.

I'm glad to hear someone say the phones are in the stores!!  AT&T has done a poor job of putting this phone out there.  There's absolutely nothing anywhere about it except a "Coming Soon" page that you have to search for or link to from a blog.  That's not how you advertise the greatest phone of the year!  

I don't normally look at other carriers, but Sprint is launching the GS2 tomorrow. They've at least put it up on their site and Walmart and Amazon are ready to launch with them.  Information has been out there for several weeks.  WHERE'S AT&T WITH THEIR INFORMATION???  I'm going to give Sprint a look and maybe a call.  If the numbers add up right, and AT&T doesn't launch on Sunday, I may be a Sprint customer by Monday!

However, I do recognize that the SII does outperform it's Infuse brother in almost every catagory now, except screen size.

I guess the Infuse will now be looked at as the cheaper alternative to the GSII.

Now let's see if ATT delivers on the phone....

Remember GS2 was released elsewhere long time ago, even before Infuse was released. We are getting the almost exact same GS2 that was released 7 months ago. Back when Infuse was announced in early spring, we knew it was a mid-range phone, a stop-gap phone until AT&T gets the GS2.

I THINK UNFORTUNATELY we will NOT be seeing it on the 18th of this month. I HOPE I am wrong. I too have been waiting for it and saving my upgrade and I WISH ATT would make it official. I know sprint came out with pre-orders a week or two before hand and are OFFICIALLY releasing it tomorrow. BUT havent seen a pip out of ATT except for the sign up page a little over as week ago. I also have bugged att stores and att sales over the phone every couple of days for info and still nothing. I will PATIENTLY WAIT FOR A FEW MORE WEEKS. BUT if I dont hear or have it in my hand within the next two weeks I MAY move on over to sprint. I donty really like sprint but the rest of my family is on them (except my wife, kids, and myself). It is starting to get really frustrating, I have been waiting since May/Juune when it arrived in UK and Asia. Again I HOPE it is here on the 18th of this month as the leaked roadmap suggest, but other past rumors were October which is starting to make more sense with hearing NOTHING from ATT. How many of you have signed up for the Galaxy S2 page? Heard or seen ANYTHING? I have not even received a email yet in over the week or more since I signed up.

I wasn't supprised by all this. AT&T does the same thing for many other phones' release. After all, it is probably Samsung's fault not paying for AT&T's promotion.

I can't believe I am saying this but I am actually strongly considering going to sprint over this phone. It blows my mind how poor a job AT&T had done with handling of this phone's release. I am giving it until Sunday. If they haven't released it or at least announced a date for release then guess it is off to Sprint, much to my dismay.

I would actually consider the Infuse as a high-end phone. While the Galaxy S II would be even higher up on the scale than the Infuse would be, I would still say it's a very nice phone overall.

Would you consider the Captivate a mid-range phone? I know it's been more than a year ago that it's been released, but I enjoy using mine and wouldn't trade it for anything right now other than possibly the Galaxy S II if it intrigued me enough. It would be the perfect tribute to my original Galaxy S, that's for sure!

AT&T will be picking up the SE Xperia Play? I did not know this. I thought that it would be exclusive to Verizon only.

Anyhow, that's going to be a good benefit for those PlayStation lovers. It'll probably replace some people's PSPs.

I still love mine. I still look at it as brand new.

And, of course, with technology developing more and more each and every year, there are bound to be better phones out there like the Galaxy S II. I'm not looking at upgrading anytime soon, though. I'm keeping "Sam" for as long as I can.

No one knows why AT&T picked up Infuse (which does not sell anywhere else) instead of GS2 back in the spring.
