Samsung Galaxy S2 release date please!!!

I have followed and wanted this phone sense may.  I have waited through all delays in the release.  It was announced by Samsung that Sprint would release on the 16th (which they did) and AT&T on the 18th. 

I have been a loyal customer of AT&T for over 18 years...Never even priced another carrier.  If they do not release this phone tomorrow or at least provide a release date than I will leave AT&T!  Not just because of a phone....but because they can not give us the courtesy of telling us anything.  I signed up on that info page a week ago and have not received one bit of info.  Not even a welcome and we look forward to providing you info email.   This is inexcusable! 

Not only do the employees in your stores not know when this phone will be released.  Many of them also know nothing about the phone.   If I was to walk in today to upgrade my phone they would not be able to tell me there is a hot new android device coming out.  And this is something I would expect my service provider to be able to do.  They know everything there is to know about an iphone.  And I know plenty as well.  My wife has an iphone4 and an ipad2. 

AT&T needs to remember...they are a Service Provider!  And not the only one out there!  I overlook that I get 5 to 10 dropped calls a day!  But I will not overlook that you can't answer a simple question of when a phone will be released!!!!   If you honestly don't know when thats one thing... but you do know if it is or is not going to be tomorrow.  And there is no reason why you can't give your customers that answer!

I've been thinking of switching -TO- AT&T, but with this whole thing it makes me think they're no better than Verizon with their piece of @#$% tactics to make you buy out of date phones full of laggy bloatware.

I have a question for anyone that's been around ATT for a while though - have they EVER released a phone WITHOUT announcing it at least a little beforehand? People are still holding out hope for the release tomorrow... but honestly, I don't see how the company could just *not* announce a release at all. It doesn't seem to make any sense. And if they're not releasing it that means they totally flubbed when they originally put up the Galaxy S2 page that said it would be released Sept. 18th (that's where the rumor came from).

What kind of (mentally handicapped) company can't even figure out when it's releasing a phone? Too busy calling to check in with Jobs to see if he's okay with it? Make sure he doesn't need a backrub, or a "massage" while you're at it.

I'll pick up this phone tomorrow if it comes out and there's some rational explanation for this mess, but I highly doubt it's coming out tomorrow and I'm not interested in the yo-yo-ing ATT is doing. I'll just arrange to wait for the T-Mobile release, and while I'm waiting I'll call my congressman and let them know how much of a bad idea that merger is.

Oh, and if this is all because of Apple... tell Apple to suck it up. They're just gonna raise the price on their iphone5 and count on their stupid sheep to carry them away from their losing offering to the smartphone market.

AT&T did annouce it on Aug 30. Just didn't give a date. No, Sept 18 date is not from AT&T's web page. It is from the word of mouth during the Aug 30 press event.

On the other hand, Verizon, correct if I'm wrong, never announced that it will release Droid Bionic until a day or two before the actual release.

There must be some behind the scene story for AT&T to not clarify this phone's release date. We just don't know.

Do we really think they would release on a Sunday?  The stores aren't even open on Sundays.

I am really wanting this phone.  I am going to be switching from the iPhone4 to this phone......if it comes out soon.

I have had every iPhone since it was first released.  This is the first phone that has made me want to switch.  But if it does not come out before the iPhone5 then it will be too late.  iP5 or the S2.......whatever one comes out first.

My conspiracy theory is that they found a glitch in the phone and been working non stop to fix it for the last month.

Hoping it would be fixed by now, they've kept everything hush. Now with they're backs against the wall, you'll hear a statement tomorrow on a "new" release date....

My conspiracy theory is that someone is holding off the release for the announcement of the iPhone 5.  I'm not sure if it's AT&T, Apple, or Samsung.  

Either way the most opportune time to launch the S2 in the US would have been in June when all those iPhone contracts came due for an upgrade.  People with a 2 year old iPhone 3GS come in to look at the iPhone 4 and have the GS2 sitting right next to it with that gorgeous screen!  

These waiting games just really frustrate me.  But I'll play along and go into the AT&T store tomorrow.  I'm not going to hold much hope, though.  When I talked to the salesman on Friday he wouldn't dismiss a launch on Sunday, but he claimed to not know anything about it.

Oh and why would there be issues with the phone for launch? It has been out for a long time in other countries. I think the bugs are worked out. My co-worker already has one he bought on eBay.

Well........if AT&T is not coming out the SGS2 tomorrow or by next sunday I am getting it on the ebay.......so stupid...not being able to know when they will release this great phone.  Even the whole world has it already.  Even Sprint customers are playing with the phone at home at this hour but not AT&T

Also I do notice the Samsung Infuse 4G did have a prive drop to $99. That sounds like its going in the right direction however, not good enough.

Jumbobob is one smart dude. I always thought they should have released the S2 asap to get word of mouth / show and tell sales but I never thought about a june release to get people coming of iPhone contract. Stupid move by Samsung.
