I have to laugh at the last few responses because as usual, you will get two different answers depending on who you speak to at AT&T. One said they will begin shipping tomorrow and the other says "on or before the 28th". I guess you could say the second covered the first - but I think it's clear that the CSRs are just as clueless.
There was a lot of hype over AT&T being the first to bring this to the US but it looks like they are going to beat out by Sprint who appears to be at least fulfilling their pre-orders for the 16GB model.

I pre-ordered from ATT.com on 6/6 about 12:45am and was sent email stating it would ship on or about 6/18. I called this morning and was told it would ships either next Monday or Tuesday. I wonder if I can go into a store and get one and cancel my "pre-order" ... Which is going to be shipped much later than the release date.

I contacted AT&T today (for the 1 billionth time in 3 days) and was told the same information as I have been since the beginning. Orders "began shipping" on Monday and are still shipping. I placed my pre-order within 30 minutes of the phone being offered by at&t and this is just absurd that mine has not shipped yet. I asked when my phone should arrive and I was told that if I did not receive it by tomorrow to contact AT&T again.

I have never preordered a device so is it like it happens everytime that the shipping thing is late or information about the shipping is so discrete so as to keep it as a last minute surprise or are they concerned about us being the spoilers and posting everywhere about the specs and availability....no clue... ......lets hope they are planning a big surprise for everyone like us...ha ha ha

Well: I talked with premier yesterday and they said no phones would be arriving until the 28th. I call the premier voice order check and it says my order has been processed and will be shipping soon, I chat with a online and he says all pre-orders will be shipped out by the 21st.
So who is in charge of the pre-order process; the keystone cops, 3 stooges or Laurel and Hardy?
I laugh because I can imagine what would happen to me if I told one of my customers expect it then and a couple weeks later say...not really. I'm just darn not sure! Your Ok with that? I guess it must be a sigma six process....

Did anyone not get the $100 instant rebate ? I didn't get it and when I called, AT&T told me to call them once I received my phone
Same thing for me...

Just talked to a CSR and she said mine would ship out Monday or Tuesday. She also said they were backordered. If it is first come first serve that means they were not even able to fulfill 12 hours of orders from the first day (I ordered on my lunch break @ 12). I do not have much hope that this is correct being that I've been told something different each time. How hard is it to send out one e-mail saying "Sorry but your order has been delayed" and provide a later date which it will ship. I read an article that there are rumors they will not ship until the 28th.

Premier customer service just got done telling me that their manager received an email yesterday morning that Samsung is having issues getting the units out, and that they will be receiveing them in the warehouses on the 28th. Shipping them out after that.
Asked him if they were plannin on sending out an email to let the customers know that instead of keeping them in the dark. He had no idea!
Just could be another clueless CSR, but thought I would contribute to the rumor mill.

Straight from online chat anybody hearing anything different?
Excuse my poor spelling
X: When I placed my order I was specifically told and labeled that's my order would arrive on or before June 21st. It has not shipped yet.....I have not received any text, email or call to inform me otherwise. Is it going to ship overnite today?
Markese: The Samsung Galaxy S III pre-ordered devices has started shipping on the 18th and are expected to be shipped to all customers who placed the pre-order by the 21st. However, I am unsure as to what place in line you would be to receive the pre-order.
x: Why would AT&T then even put a date of expected delivery if they truly had know control or knowledge?
x: So since mine is a pre-order within the first two days.....are you saying I will receive mine then on the 21st?
x: So AT&T will overnight my phone in order to meet your statement that all pre-orders will be received by the 21st.
Markese: The Expected Delivery Date is an estimate, not guaranteed. The actual shipment date and receipt of your order is estimated and not guaranteed and may be subject to delays for reasons that include, but are not limited to, product availability, inventory, credit issues, number porting or carrier delays, and completion of other required AT&T business processes.
Markese: Are there any other questions or concerns I can answer for you today?
x: So why did you just give me some dates if you are now saying you do not know any of that information? So you have no idea when it will ship? could be tonight ? next week? two weeks?
x: The actual shipment date and receipt of your order is estimated and not guaranteed and may be subject to delays for reasons that include, but are not limited to, product availability, inventory, credit issues, number porting or carrier delays...I mean if your saying AT&T does not know this then can you really put any date to it?
Markese: The only date I was providing was the 21st. That is the date that all of the pre-ordered devices are expected to be shipped by. If the order has not shipped by the 21st, then the delays stated above an be the reason. I am sorry for the confusion.
Markese: I am sorry for the typo. It was supposed to say can be the reason.
x: So you are saying AT&T does not know ther own product availability, inventory, credit issues, number porting or carrier delays in order to give me a expected delivery date? or do they even know it enough that 24 hours before the quoted delivery time to send an email to inform?
Markese: Would you like the telephone number to our Order Specialist Department who may be able to assist you with better details regarding the shipment. I would not wan to provide you with misleading information.
x: That would be most excellent, yes
Markese: You may reach one of our Product Specialists on 866-499-8008, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Central Time.

I realize that everyone has heard something different... Here is what I was told:
For starters I ordered my phone on the 6th, late morning, in an AT&T core store. I was told I would receive BY the 21st.
My online status still shows as backordered.
I called CS and they said that I would receive the phone BY the 21st (they told me this the evening of the 18th).
I called my contact at the store and he said they are supposed to receive them today. I am supposed to call back in an hour to verify. He said he will set one aside for me and then we can cancel my pre order, and I can come in store today to check it out/play with it. I cannot take the phone home today since tomorrow is launch day.... but as long as I get one tomorrow I am happy. Tomorrow is also the last day I can return my HTC One X so I am anxious for that to work out.
Of course, until I have a phone in hand.... I am counting on nothing.
06-20-2012 12:53:17 PM
So the HTC One X that you are about to return.. Why? It is suppose to be a really nice phone (even a better display).. What did you not like about? I definitely believe it is a better looking phone than the S3. For me, the lack of micro-sd is a killer - not to mention, the S3 having 2GB of ram.. but I was still thinking about the HTC One X as a possible scenario if the S3 doesn't ship in a timely fashion.
06-20-2012 01:01:36 PM
I love the HTC one X. It is better looking, I agree. I am for whatever reason, more of a Samsung fan. And I have already found to be limited by the lack of external SD card. I like to load a lot of movies/pictures for my daughter to watch and lots of music I play over bluetooth in my Jeep.
The camera on it is exceptional, the processor is snappy and with icecream sandwich and updates to Sense, its pretty hot all the way around. One thing I do not like: the stock browser SUCKS. I downloaded Dolphin and had to use that becuase the HTC browser was terrible.
I go through a lot of phones and like the newest/latest/greatest. This is by far the best looking device HTC has ever made, the lightest and for the first time I can use it all day without the battery dying. HTC is notorius for crappy battery life and I was impressed that they finally have a phone that I can use all day with moderate to heavy use and it survived.
Long story short: if the S3 turns out to not be a good fit (when we all finally get our hands on them) I would go back to this device in a minute. But like you I am looking forwrad to the 2gb of ram, and a couple other little features that the S3 is coming with. Sure do wish they wouldn't have done a physical home button. That's my only complaint so far (without having seen one in person)

I promise to let y'all know when I know something from my local store. I have been stalking this order process online like everyone else. Anxious for anyone to have something tangible to give us hope.

I know one thing for certain, if I do not receive my phone tomorrow as promised by AT&T, I am going to call and complain to them and demand they waive my activation fee on the phone. I highly recommend everyone else to do the same if you have an email/receipt saying that your phone should arrive on or before the 21st and you do not get your S3 tomorrow. It is the least they can do after causing this chaos and not having the decency to inform us one way or another through email. It doesn't help either that NOBODY at AT&T is on the same page with this debacle. Why not send an internal memo to all the CSRs informing them on how to give us an accurate, uniform answer so we aren't left wondering with all of the dozens of completely different responses we have gotten thus far?
As a business, you never give a concrete date unless you are absolutely positive that you can deliver on said date. One of the most basic tenets of running a company is that you always under-promise and over-deliver. Over-promising and under-delivering is one of the quickest ways to rid yourself of clients/customers.
