Nothing, if you don't know. It was meant for experts to do something, in case it helped them. Presumably unencrypt it, see if the firmware version is hard coded, perhaps change it...? At this point, we are clutching at straws.

Try Backup Master (it saves quite a few important items, including SMS)

I did GTG's and viola it's there! My phone is completely back to stock right now though. Does anyone know how much battery is required for it to update?

Ok, I did the GTG, and am now on GB! Anyone know why I cant download or update anything through the Market Place?

Looks like it takes a full charge to update. I tried with 50% battery and Kies mini told me to charge the battery before the update could continue.

So i started the update, it failed after downloading. And i went to try it again and now it says my firmware is up to date, though i still remain on froyo.

When I do this GTG thing it won't erase my sim card contacts will it?

I did the gtg method and the phone is now recognized in the kies mini. The kies mini screen says firmare version: Latest version and the firmware upgrade date says 11/10/13.

I also looked at the firmware version which is 2.2.1. Baseband version 1997UCKD5 . Kernel 2.6.32.9 Build Nuber Froyo.UCKD5.

Kies Mini shows I have the latest version.  Firmware upgrade: 11/10/13.  Phone Upgrade grayed out.

After the GTG went smooth enough.... I was getting sooooo hopeful. 

Please help if you can.

Installed kies mini tried to update phone but it says I have the latest firmware and the phone upgrade button is grayed out ..help my phone came with uckd5 and has never been upgraded to anything else ota..Please help.I want gingerbread!!..

It sure would be nice if AT&T or Samsung had the decency to offically say " hey we are having problems please bear with us while we get it resolved......"

I gave up and did the dirty deed.  I have never done anything remotely risky like root or hack a device, but I decided to try the GTG unbrick procedure mentioned a couple of days ago.  It worked like a charm!  A couple of tips if you try it.  The Odin software is included in the zipped file.  One of the instructions says make sure you phone is listed as COM##.  The ## appear to be wildcards.  Mine showed up as COM4.  I was hesitant since it did not actually say COM## but decided to give it a go, and the process worked fine.  Took about half hour for the unbrick, which basically just reinstalls the original factory firmware version,  then another half hour to do the upgrade to GB.  I am hanging on to the unbrick process because it was actually designed to recover a completely bricked phone.  So if you tried to do something fancy like try an unauthorized firmware and rendered the phone completely unrecoverable, this WILL recover it back to factory original.  Knowing I can recover from just about anything is making me think about going all hacker and trying an Ice Cream Sandwich ROM!

The process is really straightforward.  No advanced tech knowledge of exotic jargon or procedures required.  Just follow the few steps of instructions.  Even if you mess up the first time, you can just do it again.  It WILL work.  I even stopped it during the process which everyone says absolutely do not do.  I thought it had hung up but later realized it was just that I was loading the file, which is quite large, from a network drive.  I copied everything to my desktop, and things went quickly from there.

So I tried last night and it would have let me download GB except my battery was low. So I charged my battery and tried again this morning and now get the "unregistered device" message. What's up with that???

I have two Infuses, and after researching countless boards, it appears that those that received OTA, Over The Air updates back last year, maybe in November, are the ones not able to download GB the way it was meant to be downloaded.  One of my Infuses recieved the OTA, which I can't install GB and the other never received OTA, and I was able to install GB on that one without any problems.

On the bottom of page 12 of this forum, the second from the bottom post from Dyons says that there is support for the ideas about the phased rollout based on IMEI numbers to control server load AND that the UCKH1 users will be updated in 1-2 weeks.

Where is the support for this? I too am an "unregistered device" sufferer using UCKH1 and I, like many of you here who did not get the update yet, want to get to the bottom of this.

Chatting with Samsung or AT&T did not do it for me because they cross-reference each other and suggest that I factory reset the phone. For lack of a better solution, I did that and there was no change to the way Kies mini saw the phone as. It was still an "unregistered device."

Same for me. I really do not want to go through GTG unbrick process...
I finally go through with it, check setting and it says UCKD5
Everything was ok until kies saying Firmware upgrade: 11/10/13 and upgrade button was grayed out. I even do software update go back to UCKD5 again (plus factory reset) and still not working. I'm dying here... there's no hope for me I think

Does anyone know why after doing the GTG, and getting GB, now I cant update or downloead from The Market Place? Also cant sign into Google TALK. I think its a google thing?
