If you got stuck (boot loop) at the ATT Logo,
1- remove the battery
2- then hold volume up/down and power button at the same time
3- when the Samsung logo appears
4- release the power button while holding the volumes.
5- You will enter the Android System Recover, select Wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition.
This works for me ![]()
I take no credit for this, I readit in this thread.

2- How you guys fixed the sensitivity problem?
thank you!

This works great with the Samsung supplied cable. I started the process using a standard micro USB cable and thought I bricked my phone. Every thing started OK, but as soon as I hit the start button I got the progress bar on both display's and it locked, I waited 15 minutes, still nothing. Phone had no display, nomatter how I tried to turn it on.
I dug out the samsung cable, rebooted my PC, Restarted phone in download mode (NO SCREEN). Restarted Odin, phone showed up, I restarted the download and it took 5 minutes to complete. Now it works great. What is the pinout for the samsung cable. Why can't they use standards.

You think there is a pin location difference with the Samsung cables?

When, the "official" update was copied and posted here 2 days ago i tried to update my phone via odin3, at work win 7 pro.
It hung on starting connection never did a thing after that. So i took the file went home did as instructed and im up and running!
Windows 7 depending on how its configured "i assume" will interfear with the update.
Those that havent updated, wait for the fix, i still have the original update on a flash drive but i cannot place it here nor put it out public "legal reasons"
Those that are inpatient while its a upgrade and its nice to finally get hte upgrade its not worth pounding the keyboard with att or samsung. its ok slight batt improvment but it is what it is!
Ihave had none of the issues described here, text fine market works.

UPDATE: Samsung and AT&T are aware there is an issue with the Infuse 4G update that affects a small number of users. We currently have put a hold on the update while we are developing a fix.
I do not have any additional information at this time but will update the thread when I have more information to share with you.

Thanks, Jamileh. At least we're getting some indication that at&t is aware and working on it. Please continue to keep us posted.

Don't thank them. AT&T made a promise months ago to get this out. Rodgers had it in Canada last year. AT&T delayed trying to get Carrier IQ in there and have not had our interest in mind. Now they release a statement saying a small number. Most of us have not been able to get this done. This is the problem with AT&T

Just to let you know, There is absolutley NO difference between the "Samsung" cable or any other of its type as far as the pin outs go. Just a difference in the quality of the cable itself. ![]()

There IS a difference between a Samsung data cable & a standard micro-USB cable. A standard USB cable will only work for charging this phone.

I to decided to take the plundge and update my phone. Thanks mturcich24, the directions were great flawless.
I received <OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 1) which was weird.
My phone booted up with Gingerbread.
Now my concern is that my phone performs a quick reboot every 5 minutes or so without any Samsung or AT&T splash screen. After checking up time, it steadily increases as phone technically never completely restarts....again No Samsung or At&T splash screen.
Is this an extended symptom of the boot loop?
I have not cleared any of my personal data as I wanted to try to get away without having to do so.
If I do Wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition will I lose text messaging and photos?

Uhm I think we should thank you because she's trying to help us and is keeping us posted. SHES not the reason for the update failure and false promises
She's affiliated with ATT, so in my eyes she is partly to blame. Where was a simple message posted months ago, about having a delay with GB? NOWHERE
Two leading companies of telecommunication and multi media industries, fail to communicate with their consumers/customers about the GB update for Infuse. We ALL pay hundreds if not thousands of dollars a year for what...2 companies not communicating with it's customers, generic 4g, and a phone that loses it's flavor months after it was released!
I called both ATT and Samsung today for an update on GB, I explained whats been said on the forums...the answer I get from both...I have no answer or solution at this time. The ATT rep had no idea that Infuse was having issues....REALLY!!!
ATT, you really NEED to communicate internally AND to your customers!!!! Samsung if you read these forums, you also need to follow footsteps!!!
For god's sake, all we (customers) ask is more and better COMMUNICATION! That is all.

Way to go. Thanks mturcich24.
I received "unregistered device" and "Cannot connect to the server...".
I ended up to use Odin3 to restock my phone, but still could not upgrade through Kies Mini. I wasted myself a whole weekend seeking to upgrade to GB.
I decided to follow the instruction posted by mturcich24 and I was able to make my phone upgrade in less than 10 min.
Now, I have my phone running GB 2.3.6. The only thing that seems not right is that the touch screen does not response sensitively like before. Not sure why? But overall there is a big difference. Battery lasts much longer. Overnight in standby mode, there is only 1% drop, which is much better.

I updated gingerbread I997UCKL2-Homebinary.tar through odin3 v1.81 Only took a very short time and no errors but when I run my wi-fi the screen locks up sometimes and touch screen goes dead until I tilt the smartphone up in front and inch or so then it frees itself and I can make a move but locks up again when down flat. Not sure what is causing the problem and wish there was an area in phone to correct this easyally but maybe not. Does anyone one have any idea's and has this also affected youi too? Thanks for your time :-)

If you are having problems with your phone after flashing, there are 2 things you can try:
1. Flash it again using the same procedure as before. (If the problem was caused by a bad flash, this will probably fix the problem.)
If not,
2 Wipe all the user data & reinstall your programs. (Unfortunately, sometimes old settings/programs don't migrate properly & a fresh install is the best way to solve these issues.) All your contacts/texts can be restored from a backup (assuming you backed them up or can back them up now) & programs should be reinstalled straight from the Android Market. Your pictures/videos should still remain on the phone after a wipe (but back them up too just in case!)
A Modest Suggestion

There is a simple way out of this impasse. Since all new Infuses are delivered with GB installed, and since "only a small number" of phones can't be updated, why not give us all ane phones and stop the whole discussion. It is a great solution from the PR and monetary point of view.

The cable issue:
My first infuse phone and the Samsung cable that came with it were easily recognized by my computer. After I had a warranty replacement (the first infuse was caught in a loop and overheated to the point where I smelled burning plastic), the samsung cable was not working. The phone would not get recognized and there were a lot of issues. It worked for recharging however.
I had a $5 Motorolla charger laying around with a detachable cable and plugged it in and it worked like a charm. Bottom line, cables do matter - whether it's too long and the signal doesn't reach there, there is voltage issues, a short, a cut, etc. If you don't find your phone in windows, try a different cable.

I've followed the steps as listed...My problem is this;once I remove the usb cable from the phone, I lose the ODIN connection. When I place the phone in download mode and reconnect the cable, ODIN no longer sees the phone. Can anyone help????If a driver problem, where can I find the correct driver? Thank You
