That link is a little disappointing. I am on my second Samsung and own other Samsung products. Curious how the Captivate Glide gets on this list but not the Infuse. Will all the reboots and problems my infuse has I think my next phone will be HTC.
" It will be followed by several other AT&T devices in the coming months:" I'll believe this when I see it though. We have been promised Gingerbread 2.3 since last August or earlier.

Only the Infuse is the hold up with AT&T and Gingerbread, right? I don't like that (my wife has Infuse), but the other models that AT&T said they would update to Gingerbread have been done right?
I don't like the long wait, but I guess I look at yesterday's press release as a tiny positive.... AT&T has committed to updating a set of phones to ICS... I'll never expect specific dates on updating the phones on the list, but at least they have made a ICS update list official. Heck, looking for silver linings where I can. ![]()

To be honest, for me, I see no additional features in the 2.3 upgrade I will actually use. I just thought it might be fun to video call to my parents and kids on Skype (without needing to start my computer). And the experience I have had with upgrading the OS on my iPhone and iPad, have been nothing but extremely negative. So I'm a bit leary of it anyway. ![]()
I love this phone. And it is MUCH more reliable and MUCH less glitchy than my iphone and ipad. However, this pseudo upgrade fiasco is an inexcusable mess. I’m surprised and disappointed ATT and Samsung have not been more forthcoming with information about this problem, and resolution progress. They could at least give some plausible explanation, if there is some software/hardware incompatibility issue for which they are seeking a fix, rather than ignoring and disregarding all of us.
ATT and Samsung, just give us an occasional update, with some HONEST information!!!

Maybe ATT wants us to get frustrated and buy the Galaxy SII or Note? Maybe we should all petition ATT to make us a deal re can't resist on one of the aforementioned phones.

Again, DCPerkins, the Infuse IS part of the Galaxy line so that can't be true. It's full name is 'Samsung Galaxy S Infuse 4G.'

With many phones projected to get ice cream sandwich in March, we are like orphans waiting anxiously for some almost stale gingerbread delivery. Maybe ATT is waiting for April Fools Day which may seem appropriate to them after such a long wait.

Yes. Rogers released Gingerbread for the Infuse at the end of JULY 2011. The XDA community has been running that release since then.
The UCKL2 Gingerbread release for AT&T was built by Samsung in December and not released by AT&T until late January. It had a severely broken touchscreen driver thanks to AT&T. AT&T seems to enjoy forcing Samsung to do weird crap to their touchscreen drivers - the Galaxy S II kernel sources are full of #ifdef CONFIG_TARGET_LOCALE_NAATT within the touchscreen drivers - none of which actually is necessary, as ICS on the I777 proves. (We're running almost straight unmodified I9100 kernel source - I'd estimate the differences for I777 at around 30-40 lines of code, and NONE of that was in the touchscreen drivers.)
Samsung had the UCLB3 release ready shortly after AT&T pulled the update, and most feedback on XDA says UCLB3 is pretty good. (Hard to tell though, since most people are running my custom kernel which uses the non-broken touchscreen drivers from the Rogers release, which is why UCKL2 didn't get many complaints about touchscreen until officially released.)
The ICS list announcement is basically the same as the Gingerbread list from August/September 2011 or so. God only knows when the I777 will officially get Gingerbread, even though it only took a community developer with no support from Samsung or AT&T a week of evenings to get the I9100 release mostly working on I777. (I think I've got it working as well as the I9100 release at this point, minus NFC. Oh wait, AT&T disabled that on all I777 firmwares anyway.)

Hey all -
This thread was inadvertently archived but it's back in it's entirety now.
We're doing some spring clean up work and it looks like this might have accidentally gotten caught by the "broom".
Sorry about that!

I notice you have that you like unicorns on your posts. This gingerbread update for the Infuse is a unicorn. Nonexistent.

Colonel8765 - yes, along with me there are quite a few people who are very interested in the feedback and discussions that take place on the forums. I can't speak for other's specific thoughts but I know that everyone appreciates and needs to hear what our community has to say.
shiby4505 - Hopefully we'll see the Gingerbread update soon. I can't say the same for the unicorns though. ![]()

Jamileh,
I think it does make a difference to this community to know that you're monitoring the forum and occasionally say something, even if it's to say there is nothing new to report.
Thanks, Peter

Hi Jamileh,
Thank you for responding, I am sure you realize there are numerous unhappy ATT and Samsung customers here that although they want the update their main concern is the absolute lack of clear communication about what is going on and the timeframe for resolution. What would it take for some official to just address this issue upfront? That is just good customer relations wouldn't you agree?

I agree as well. Is there an SLA on when this should have been completed? Has this issue been escalated by you or your manager? If so, where is the information regarding this ticket?
I am sure there are some that say why not just root your phone and load the update yourself. Sure, that is an option I suppose. Although that is tempting I would rather get my update from the company that sold the phone. I guess I could always go with an iPhone they only have a few models to support and Apple controls the entire operation. If Samsung was my company I would refuse to do business with at&t as (in my opinion) they are the reason this update has yet to be passed to my phone.
I find it amazing that a company which tries to pride itself on customer server has little respect for its current customers.

Just thought I'd mention that, as of last Friday, I've switched to an iPhone 4s. Yes, I paid $250 in ETF to do so, too.
One major reason was this upgrade fiasco.
