It is a shame that the update cant be completed for the Infuse, its a great phone easy to use. Many unhappy infuse users
just waiting for Gingerbread so sad. Many people paying their ETF's jumping ship.. Mr ATT Mr Samsung do you realize there
many users waiting patiently for an update. Someone needs to make a bold move !!!!!!! If uclb3 is the update why dont you
just come out and say UCLB 3 is gingerbread the final update. It would work for me !!!!!

This isn't the final build. It's a been a while since the last leak so I suspect that another is right around the corner. HDMI isn't working properly with UCLB3 so somewhere some Samsung developer is still working on this. Hold tight, ye of little faith. Gingerbread won't change your life. For most, the change won't really be noticable in their phones usability.
If you really want it, root the thing like I did. If you don't want to take the time to learn how to safely root, pipe down and wait.

Please forward this post to the proper person,
I would like to know how why a group of 4 or 5 people not employed by either samsung nor At&t , and who are also not PAYED can code fix and exicute a WORKING rom for this phone.
Mind you they have jobs not at all related to this field and are not backed by a multi billion dollar corperation,
Not only have they creating working roms "ive seen 8" with most at 6 to 8 upgrades" they keep us informed they also beg us for bug reports problems in order to fix these issues.
Why is it a multi billion dollar corperation not only cannot fix a upgrade issue "remember you have resourse at disposal" but futher more cannot seem to post a revert to former state? also why do you refuse to give us updates on the progress?
Please keep in mind the people i speak of DO NOT GET PAYED TO DO THIS!!!! its a hobby, However the very provider that sells us the phones and HOLDS US TO OUR CONTRACTS cannot seem to get thier "CREW OF PAYED CODERS" to get anything done with this.
Example a Current rom was released on 3/5/12 a few bugs not anything to whine about, yet in a few days the FINAL VERSION will be released bug free.
see the time frame? not a full month and these guy unpaid have done this.
Please explain to the infuse customers why your people cannot fix this!
Samsung releases the speces specifics on phone android only has to be intergraded "10 buck says if these guy had those specs im willing to bet this entire thread would not exist!

This question has been asked before and not answered so let me respond. 3rd-party developersdon't have to answer to anyone that has a problem after upgrading while Samsung/AT&T do. A simple look at any ROM forum will reveal dozens of people with issues and that is from a pool of poeple much smaller than AT&T's Infuse subscriber base. A buggy nationwide upgrade would cause an uproar.
Also, and perhaps even more importantly, 3rd-party ROMs require a complete wipe of the phone that most people would be very uncomfortable with. Samsung/AT&T have to ensure that their user's data is not erased during the upgrade process.

I see so a national release that is at best fubared! and cannot be reverted back to the original rom is acceptable?
what i see is people bailing on the phone and the company, even more are pulling these roms just so they have FULL functionality, HDMI really i mean you need your phone to plug into a tv to watch a movie? ITS A PHONE FIRST,
if that part of its basic function is borked then we as former and current subscribers need a answer/fix!

done did swore i never would but tell the truth id be a compleate fool to go back to a stock version!
The amount of feature available on this flashed rom are staggering! "there are a few bugs" but as i said nothing to flip out over.
final release is due out soon! if AT&T fashioned this rom like the one i have they would be vindicated in a nano sec!
Bugs are mostly false messages of disaster lol. and everything works have an issue i go to one of the devs fixed! boom .

In the third-party community, firmware quality can vary greatly. Some developers are really agressive and often do things outside of their skill level, or implement features that are "cool" without properly investigating them (See the non-"Original" Android Development forums for the GT-I9100 on XDA as an example). Others take a more conservative approach - fix all the bugs, THEN start adding new features slowly (See VillainROM 3.0 on XDA, which has only 2-3 known issues, and they were Samsung base bugs that took 3-4 MONTHS to discover.).
I personally take pride in my work, and if I'm not doing better than an AT&T release across the board, I'm not happy. Fortunately, AT&T sets the bar very low so it is easy for me to be happy. 90% of the people who had problems with my I777 Gingerbread kernels either had their problems fixed within a week or two, or were on an AT&T (UCKH7 or UCKK6) system base. When ICS hit, I was within a week of officially dropping support and not accepting bug reports from anyone on a UC base.
As to HDMI and UCLB3 - someone commented that the UCLB1 kernel fixed it when combined with the UCLB3 base, so maybe I'll fix it once I get access to an Infuse again. (An XDA user who bought a Note after cracking their Infuse screen is sending me that unit for kernel maintenance work.)

I have been down the rooting / ROM flashing route with the XDA, Cyanogen and MIUI people. . I consider myself to be tech literate. This was back when I had a Captivate.
It was a nightmare for three months. And this was even afterI hired people who were smarter than me to fix it. I would never go back to that. My advice is to get the best, fastest phone you can get. Root it. But don't flash the ROM.
I now have a rooted Infuse. I'm extremely happy with it. I'm glad to wait for the full tested and proven Gingerbread update.

Well im not a fully versed person on flashed roms however the rom i aquired is called ZEUS.
and the features are mostly shortcuts! lockscreens, now it does also give me the ability to do all kinds of things like voltage control and so on but id be a fool to touch those so i deleated those perks!
but as a rom goes it definatly was worth it ! no more borked signal loss battery time is up from 16 to bout 23 hrs without going dead, cause i forgot to plug it in wifi is way better!
And texting omg gone the day of last update hammering on face of phone due to non responce,
hdmi cmon its a flippin phone man movie running this thing will drain like a gas tanks with 5 holes in it!
its a nice feature good for a small presentation but lets face it its a perk "a nice one" but not nessasary for funtionality of the basic use of a phone, in other words as long as the phone works you can send a patch later for the movie buffs!
the freedom i have now is way better i can actually use the phone a lot more than when phone was new!
that facebook virus is gone ! read terms of use you do know once you log into the app face book can and will use all info on contacts and texts! READ THE TERMS OF USE its in there!
whil e i do not reccomend flashing its a viable option

It really amazes me how Samsung and AT&T leave us in the dark. Actuall it doesn't after past experiance. Any kind of decent update would make most people happy. When I bought my phone I was told by an AT&T employee that the update was coming in the next couple of months. It's been almost year since then and still no update. To me that's false advertising. I paid a lot of money for the phone and I don't get it's full use. By the time the update is out I'll be almost to my next upgrade so I am not getting what I paid for. To me that is a breach of contract. AT&T won't stand behind what it's emploee's tell us. Just look at an AT&T employee's signature line that posts here. It says:
I am an AT&T employee and the postings on this site are my own and don’t necessarily represent AT&T’s position, strategies or opinions.
I have read that AT&T has about 75 million customers. I guess there isn't enough of us Infuse owners to even show up on AT&T radar to care.

Hi Jamileh,
Quick question, do you know the reason why it has taken so long for ATT/Samsung to fix the issue with the Gingerbread update??

JBFoster, it could be just the oposite problem. I read the other day, the infuse has been the top selling android phone for AT&T for quite some time.

It's entirely AT&T - Remember, Rogers had Gingerbread with everything but HDMI and 30fps 720p video recording in late July. AT&T had a build with HDMI and the video recording framerates fixed in September. Then they wasted three months integrating spyware (Carrier IQ) for us, only to pull it out at the last minute to save themselves from a senator on a rampage.
Along the way they forced Samsung to break the touchscreen driver - almost universally, Samsung devices have all sorts of weird AT&T-specific customizations in their touchscreen drivers, and the end result is usually a worse driver than the original Samsung one.

It's just about any one's guess as to the hold up. Neither will tell us any thing. I won't flash a ROM but I think I will root my phone this time to remove all the AT&T crap or atleast freeze the apps that AT&T won't let us remove.

jbfoster, you dont need to flash a rom all you need is superoneclick and root ! it effects nothing! wont stop updates nada! but it will allow you to remove ANYTHING YOU WANT! now keep that in mind when not knowing whot to get rid of or you will be flashing!

I used superoneclick on my Captivate. The main reson I did was so I could install 3rd part apps without side loading. The Infuse came with the option for 3rd party apps so for me there was no need to root. AT&T is putting more and more junk so once I update I will root so I can take off the junk.

ATT is run by clowns. They dropped the ball big time on this issue, They don't give a hoot about us. My family pays $165 a month for att phones, and this is how we get treated? I won't be going back to att once my contract is up. I suggest you do the same.
It's bad enough they charge an arm and leg for cell phone useage, but to force owners of one of their most successful phones ever, to upgrade, is ridiculous. I hope att employees are reading this. YOU ARE CLOWNS. You have promised Gingerbread for 8 months and can't deliver. WOW. I will be telling everyone to stay away from att for cell phone service from now on. Fools.
Does anyone at att have the guts to come on here and explain what's going on? Probably not, because it would expose how shady they really are.

With more and more customers steering away from cell phone contracts, it is difficult to understand ATT's reluctance to share any info on the status of the gingerbread and/or other upgrades. [Per Guidelines: Keep it Relevant and Appropriate].

3 of my coworkers have left AT&T in the last month. 2 of them their contracts were up. The last one switched to a non smart phone and cut the interent and got the bill as low as possible and is not using the phone. She went to Sprint and gor the Iphone. Once her contract is up she will port her number over to Sprint.
I have 5 lines with AT&T. We have one Captivate and 4 Infuse phones. I wouldn't mind the wait if AT&T would give an update every now and then but they don't. They just leave us in the dark. I don't know what all is involved in updating the firmware but AT&T really sucks at it. If I was not in a contract, I would of left also.

Cool. UCLB3 is the same version that was leaked in February, so I don't have to update again now.
And that version works well. (For me, its main advantages are better battery performance, and availability of the front-facing camera for video chat via Skype or Google+ Hangout.)
