After upgrade to GB, and you factory reset the phone, no.  You'll still be running firmware UCLB3.

Well I was right, there was something Wong with my phone. I took the phone to the at&t warranty place and even they couldn't update it. But since it was still under warranty they provided me with a brand spankin' new phone that had 2.3.6 pre- installed. Now the world is a better place and I am once again a happy camper. Does anyone know where my QuickOffice went?  I installed GB and noticed that QuickOffice and Angry Birds were gone.  I found a reference somewhere to Angry Birds being removed, and I don't really care about that one, but I actually used QuickOffice and want it back.

If it was purposely taken off, is there anyway to get back the free version?

I have been having the same problem as you guys! I tried the method your friend told you to try, and sadly, it failed. I need to update because my phone will not connect to any PC or PS3 when mounting the SD card, so I can't transfer multimedia. It begins the download, but force closes on a PC. As soon as a folder opens on the phone on a PS3, it force closes. Help!

Keis mini does not work!  I am running Win 7 Ultimate, have tried several times to install the software and update the phone.  Also reset the phone to factory settings and rebooted both computer and phone several times.  Still get the same error which is a popup box with the dreaded triangle and ! mark and then Handle:263876....................

Even tried twice today to walk through the process with ATT tech support.  And I am an electronics and software guy and between us, we could not get it done.

Actually, if you look at the number of threads of complaints, this swamps everything else.  I think AT&T got stuck with a bad phone by Samsung.  I am getting ready to take it back, even though it is beyond the 14 days, I have had so many problems with the phone.

My wife and I both were able to upgrade to the GB version that came out in Feb. We liked the battery life but the only thing that we noticed was the screen seemed to loose some of its capacitve touch. You hade to swipe a couple of times to get it to work and when pushing the icons for programs it seemed like you had to litterally push it like a resistive touch screen. The newest update which I discoverd by accident by reading that the update was again available I hooked up my phone for giggles just to see if it was the same update I already received, but it wasn't. I went ahead and downloaded the new GB version and the screen problems are gone. The battery depends on what you have running and how much you use it for games movies ect. my phone has been on for 3d 10h since last charge and still has 44% battery left. I play the occasional angry birds or pocket gods and still get decent battery.

As for some people not connecting properly, I went through this the first time. What I did was uninstall Kies Mini, download the driver pack from samsung. In the folder is a driver unistall option. Once all done I restarted computer. Do not connect phone. Go back into that driver folder and install those drivers. Then I connected my phone. It installed some other drivers then opened up folder sub-menus for the phones storage. Once I knew everything was running because I could access my phones storage I installed Kies again, I disconnected my phone and reconnected so I would get the how do you want to connect message and pressed kies update then opened Kies and bam the option to upgrade was there. Pushed the button and my wife's and my phone was finished with the upgrade within 15 min.(Windows 7 64bit)

The upgrade to Android 2.3.6 i tried it for Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket also, as they declared so. Some person have done the update via WiFi n then also some tech problems is seen in this The upgrade to Android 2.3.6
i tried (via Wifi) and it says my software is up to date. I guess, AT&T discard that Android 2.3.6 from their server.

Uuum, I am really hoping someone can help me. I tried to do the upgrade. I kept getting the driver error and it wouldn't upgrade.. I followed all the instructions I thought to the letter. Now my phone is dead. I keep seeing some colored dots. I am still trying to do the emergency recovery. I will be up for another hour or so. Really hope someone can help me.

I had the same problem with mine.  I actually had to change out the USB cable.  Was finally able to get the phone upgraded, wish I hadn't.  Almost all functions are more sluggish than before.  The only time I get decent keyboard response is just after I power the phone on.  Not sure what they did, but I am surely no happy with the result!!

Good Evening Everyone, 

I did this update last week. It did take me a while to get the Kies installed on my computer (went to Samsung site and followed the steps). It was annoying getting all my information uploaded to computer so it would not get lost. After the upgrade it doubled (tripled) my contacts to my phone and also the phone is responsing is VERY SLOW (FREEZES as well). I had to reinstall (per instructions) Angry Birds and Quickoffice. Also notice some features and certain functionality is gone.  I love the phone but no regret doing the update. 

As I can see I am noyt the only one with major problems with the update
