This is really sad, and what I mean is that you see so many comments about GB being rolled out according to IMEI Numbers. Hard to know what the truth is anymore.

So if i get impatient and decide to do the GTG way, how can i if at all possible, save stuff from the "notes"app (which comes preinstalled on the phone) and whole conversations in text messages? If they cant be saved I guess I WILL have to wait patiently, for who ever to fix the problem.

So I did the whole GTG downgrade in order to upgrade thing and it worked perfectly for me. I've never tried rooting or anything like that before...was reasonably easy to do...but I don't know, may not be for everybody. I'm pretty upset at this whole process. My main gripe is that I don't understand why it took so long for the infuse to get the gingerbread update. Anyways, now that I have it...love it...just gets me more upset that I had to put up with the slow, lagging, stupid froyo for all this time when I could have had this. Such a better phone with gingerbread! This is how it should have come out of the box. Will have to seriously consider never buying a samsung again and maybe switching providers when my contract is up...i'm paying alot of money for this? Cmon...so many other options out there.

It is not clear to me why Samsung advises that we should uninstall and reinstall Kies mini after they "fix" it. AFAICS Kies mini does an automatic scan for updates as soon as it is launched. The current Kies mini version is 1.0.0.11084_3. Should not the "fix" simply be an update to the program done at startup?

It has been a long road with At&t and the Samsung Infuse 4G. In all the smartphone I have ever owned, I have never seen one mistreated so bad and neglected as the Samsung Infuse 4G. Samsung is to blame as well. On At&t side, I am angry like everyone else who has had to wait almost a year for a Gingerbread update, that should have came out in August of 2011. It is sad that this phone is not even a year old and is already behind 2 operating systems. When there was a Gingerbread update for the Samsung Captivate last month, it was announced all over the At&t Facebook page by At&t. As of today, there still has not been an announcement about the Samsung Infuse 4G getting the update. The way I found out was through various web sites that cater to the Android platform. The Samsung Infuse 4G has totally been overshadowed by the Samsung Galaxy SII. That explains why us Infuse 4G owners have had to take a backseat. On Samsung side, I am angry with them for discriminating against different version of the Infuse 4G. I am one of the people also who has tried to make an attempt at the Gingerbread download and got the famous error message. To be honest, I did not know my phone did an OTA update in November, I must have been to full of Turkey and dressing to realize it. What was the purpose of the 2 updates from At&t for June and November? That remains a mystery to this day. But now, it is because of those updates, Samsung it's not recognizing our phones. I have officially made up my mind that this is the first and last Samsung phone I will own. Why couldn't we get an OTA update for Gingerbread? I feel At&t should allow Infuse 4G owners to come in and trade in our phones for the Galaxy S II for free. That would be a nice apology present from At&t and Samsung to us for what we have had to go through. Nothing is wrong with dreaming.LOL.

GTG also worked perfectly for myself. I used the odin v1.85 software instead of the odin v1.7 from the first hyperlink. Its post #372 from the second link below. Read it carefully though because you have to use the pit, PDA & phone software from the odin v1.7 version from the first link of this post. After a 7 month wait I couldn't be happier with the infuse gingerbread 2.3.6 update. It still left all my data on the internal SD card though. None of the data of the internal SD card was erased at all. Just internet, e-mail, texts & phone settings http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1

WOW, what a dream! I agree with you 100%...the caveat is that ATT &/or Samsung would actually have to ADMIT that they did something wrong...

ExecutiveMike: can I confirm that GTD to downgrade to stock and the Kies Mini to upgrade to GB did not delete any of your apps data except email, SMS, internet bookmarks and ???. I thought the downgrade to stock wipes quite a lot of the user data. If it does not, that is indeed good news.

What i find rather amusing is the lack of information on the issue, when people ask whats going on and no responce is heard it makes ya wonder. i had posted and was told not to after it was removed the procedure for one of the links abave as someone who on thier own went and messed up a gtg revert.
thats just sad here you have a carrier, that so far for all intenceive services is basicly "saying" we dont care!
i mean a Mods job is to inform the company of the issue and reply back to us one way or the other!
they left us to our own devices and then get mad and remove posts when the people they represent refuse to give a helping hand!
i cannot blame the mods they are doing thier job however the responcibility lays on thier bosses and the mods should at least state the exact nature of the problem and tell people what if anything is being done!
in this topic alone there are 3 mod posts all refuted by "KIDS" yes kids they have for the most part narrowed the issue down to couple of things!
While i cannot bash the mods on this forum "and i wont" the people they represent should be hearing earfulls from the mods here if for nothing else than to be like why dump this in our lap!!!
i mean as a mod you give advice they need respect from us as we depend on them for help in fixing what we/ carrier/ manufac, mess up! kinda hard tho when at&t throw these people under the bus!

I second that. We should seriously take this issue to at&t's more responsible representative here.
I don't know, if any of the at&t representatives are reading these replys in this post. As I mentioned in my previous message, this is a serious purposeful ignorance by at&t.

THANK YOU & KUDOS TO YOU techpro4000!
After 3 hours & two (2) computer I did your method & it worked! It worked just in time for Kies to say that my battery isn't charged enough & I still have to wait but at least it recognized it.
It's HORRIBLE how much you have to do to do this! And I am not that techy so I had to involve about 3 people to help me--mostly to listen to me whine about Kies, AT&T & Samsung.
THANK YOU AGAIN!

My Experience
1. Read the GTG instructions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1
2. I downloaded GTG's_Ultimate_Unbrick.zip (183MB)
3. Unzipped GTG to desktop
4. Installed Mini Keis
5. Run Odin3 v1.7.exe
6. Place phone into download mode (pull battery, replace battery, press and hold both volume buttons while plugging in the USB cable) - This was the hard part
7. Made sure your phone shows up in Odin as COM## (mine was COM8)
8. Click the PIT button and choose infuse.pit (and made sure Re-Partition is checked)
9. Click the PDA button and choose PDA_UCKD5.tar.md5
10. Click the PHONE button and choose PHONE_UCKD5.tar.md5
11. Clicked Start
The process took 3:30 mins.
Once the phone rebooted
1. Ran Keis
2. Keis Showed an update was available
3. Installed update
Once phone rebooted, I noticed:
1. All of my widgets were gone
2. Most of the apps were gone
3. The few apps that remained were all reset as though I had just loaded them
4. All email accounts were gone
5. All phone contacts were still there
6. External SD was intact
Overall a quick solution and yes this ran on 64-bit Windows 7.
I echo all the posts on the EPIC FAIL of samsung and at&t to deliver this update in a user-friendly manner.
It's sad that customer service is a thing of the past.

Don't waste your time calling ATT, nice folks, no idea how to address the issue (20minutes).
Transferred to Samsung Tech Support...on hold...we shall see what they have to say.
Ten minutes, transferred to Level 2 Support...on the line with Level 2 for one two minutes, after reviewing my account they are transferring to Level 3!
Level 3 after 10minutes on hold. They are aware of the issue, are working on provisioning, 10% success rate for phones being updated. ETA for the update is seven business days (shouldn't take that long).
This is what I spent 50mintues doing...
Bottom line, we are in a holding pattern on the tarmac...hope you aren't in a hurry, sit back, relax, and enjoy the musak!

Dyons, The process left most of the apps intact. Though pretty much all of them had to be redownloaded. I backed them up to an external sd card. I didn't use the backup & redownload them instead. Most of them forced closed when opened. At least i knew which ones i had to redownload.

After reading golfgreg74 post I think i will do the GTG method, but really need to save info that is in the "memo" app that is preinstalled on the phone. I cannot find it on the files through the computer. Is there a way to save them that anyone know of, also need to save several conversations in text messaging, not just one message, the whole conversation is what I need. Does anyone know how to do this?

Here is the email that I just sent to one of the ATT reps (found the address on Facebook):
Marty:
I apologize for taking your email address from another post, but am beyond irritated with ATT, their lack of response, lack of knowledge, removal of Facebook posts from their wall, and the blatant way that we are being ignored by ATT.
Please review this post: http://forums.att.com/t5/Samsung/Samsung-Infuse-4G
You have 24 pages and over 230 posts regarding the poor service we have received since the announcement of Gingerbread for the Infuse 4G.
You have users trying software to revert to an older Broadband Version (I am running UCKH1) and upgrading (some of them successfully), but by doing this, you are basically bringing it back to factory settings.
WHY?
I don't understand how one of the nations largest COMMUNICATIONS Companies can remain so silent amidst the cries of its customers. Who should I be contacting, ATT & Samsung both are aware that there is an issue but have not been able to convey that to its users, how is this a responsible business practice.
Please feel free to send me the President of ATT's email address. I would be more than happy to email him and send him the link to how your CUSTOMERS are being treated.
Thanks, I look forward to hearing from you...Greg
(Unsatisfied) Samsung Infuse 4G user & ATT Customer (for many years)

Yes i had to uninstall the apps & redownload them. You must uninstall them first. It took a couple hours for me to do it. Actually now i know my apps are all up to date.
The free ones i mean. You need to back up the paid ones with an app & reinstall the paid ones with the same app.Re: Samsung Infuse 4G™ (i997) - Android 2.3 (Gingerbre ad) Software Update
