I do believe heat does contribute in some sort of way...also make sure you clear all running processes (Hold the home button, then click "Remove All")...those should help a bit too

There is definitely some type of bug that is draining Samsung S3 batteries. I can have days where my battery lasts all day with really heavy usage, and there are other days where I start losing about 10% of battery life every hour or more. You can tell when your battery is crashing because your phone will stay warm even if you close all open apps in task manager. I noticed that you can stop the battery drain by turning off mobile data in your notification bar, but that defeats the purpose of having a smart phone. I am hoping this is something that they are working on a fix for. I am trying to pinpoint the cause, but it might be when the phone is struggling to connect to the LTE network.
I love this phone, but now I have to monitor the heat level on it constantly to make sure I can get through the work day.

There are a lot of good batter saving apps in the Google Play Store that really work. There is one called "JuiceDefender" which has made my battery last a LONG time, it turns off and regulates ur mobile data when the phone screen is off, and turns it back on when u wake up your phone...really works!

That is a good suggestion, but there is a bug somewhere that needs to be fixed. I shouldn't have to turn off my data connection to have my phone last through the work day.

Well if you are on WiFi, you do not need the mobile data connection, as ur alwaready on a stable connection and it would only be using extra energy...what the app does is recognizes if ur on wifi, so when ur on WiFi it will turn it off, and if ur not on Wifi it will turn it on automatically...the battery draning thing is more of an android thing
Also another great method that works is lowering the screen brightness to about 10%...and DO NOT use auto brightness as that will drain the battery more. There is a widget called "Widgetoid" which i use (there are others as well) which I can set brightness intervals, so when i am indoors, I just push a button on the widget to set my brightness to 10%, and if I go out where its sunny, I press a button to push my brightness to about 40% so I can see, then back to 10% if I go in...10% brightness is actually pretty bright and saves A LOT of battery

The battery is doing total opposite of what u expect. During heavy use, you expect the battery to drain fast. But it doesnt. Leave the phone alone and by the end of the day you have a dead battery.
When you click battery in settings, what does it say is taking the most battery? Is it the Display? or Cell Radio?

Having similar problem. When I check my batter from the setting, Standby is the one that's draining my battery. I looked online and international versions were having Standby issue. I couldn't find any articles regarding US. Version yet. I called in Samsung few minutes ago and CS was telling me to turn on the Power Saving Mode all the time which bothers me(power saving mode decrease fps on your screen, gives you dark background color and limit CPU. I didn't buy THE LATEST smart phone to have dark color, get lags when I swipe through pages and when I'm playing games.) Very disappointed with Galaxy s3 so far with my experience.
If anyone else is having same issue, CALL SAMSUNG and complain!!! 888-987-4357
CS was claiming, there isn't enough complaining to take this matter seriously.
Please check Battery Setting to see if Cell Standby is causing your battery DRAIN.

How I fixed my battery problem:
You guys should try JuiceDefender...the app from the Google Play store....it really helps sove the problem and you dont notice any difference in performance on the phone...they have a free one, but the Plus version is worth it
Lower your screen brightness to about 10% instead of like 30% which people usually do...its still really bright at 10% and visible. DO NOT use Auto Brightness
Dont have your email, weather or any widget check every 15 min for an update, that takes power...i have mine check every hour...u dont need to be reminded that frequently
