The incoming call screen uses the same (new) round buttons as the unlock screen.

Also 2.3.6 is supposed to include a fix to the voice search.  I double checked the settings and it seems that I now have the choice between vlingo and google, which I don't recall having before the update.

This is what Samsung tech support said:

There is an issue with the update.

The FOTA update for EMR1(KK1) has been stopped by AT&T and could resume at a later date.

The update was delivered to approximately 31,000 devices.

Once the update is official again, it will be posted on the Samsung website or you will get notification on the phone.

that's old news.  They pulled 2.3.6 a while back for this reason.  But this new update seems to be the corrected version of 2.3.6 that they pulled after 31,000 downloaded it a few months back

How did you get it to install?  Did you do it over the air?  Did you have 2.3.5 or 2.3.6 installed?

Nothing new on the boot screen.  Though it does take much longer once the logo has been drawn and "rethink possible" is etched on the screen.  Normally, I'm only at this screen for a second or two.  It was at least a minute or more.

Hmm....

• The unlock screen is different.  It now shows a concentric circle with a padlock when I touch it telling me to swipe to unlock.
• The device management page is up when I unlock.  All it says is, "Installation completed.  The software has been successfully installed.  Your phone is now ready to use."
• Build number is not Gingerbread.ucla3  (I do not recall what it was before.)
• Android Version 2.3.6
• Kernel 2.6.35.11

I cannot see any other differences yet.

I'm on 2.3.5. OK, finally got the update downloaded. But when it rebooted it went into CWM !?! LOL Then told me the update got interuppted...??? Where is the OTAU downloaded to so I could run it manually? Anyone know? Thanks.

I'm another one.  I got a message about an update being available, tried to download it and it failed on install.  I'm still on 2.3.5.  I was really hoping for ICS since they have been saying in Q1 2012.    I'm also on an unlimited plan so that may have something to do with it.  I still quite bothered that I'm being throttled when I get to 2GB.  It doesn't really slow down, it stops.  If it went to 3G speeds, I'd probably be able to accept that, but once I go over the 2GB, I can't do anything.

I was having the same problem but then i decided to try to do a factory restore and then try updating. This worked the first time. ((**** Be sure you back up your photos/apps/contacts before you do this! ****))  Hope this helps!

The differences i noticed are the same as posed above. The lock screen and the dialer look slightly different. Other than that i have not noticed any real differences. Of course i am still re setting up my phone after the factory restore .

Nothing to it. Back up contacts to Google or SD card. Connect phone to pc and get photos. Android saves appdata via google so when u re-download app it should keep all the settings.

Same thing that everyone is reporting. Failed at 75%. I'm not factory data reseting anything so itll have to get fixed for me to install it. Was always the person to root phone and install custom roms cm mostly but i'm not messing with this phone. Bricked my last one and had to pay outright for this one. Just wish you could back up your apps with titanium so that i could factory data reset. Makes life so easy.

If your phone tells you to try again in 24hours then go to settings---> Date and Time----> Uncheck Automatic and change date one day in advance. Go back to Software Update and it'll download again. Still won't install for me though.....    :-(

No joy... advaced the date and tried the update 5 times already.

Fails at 50% everytime.

Glad to see AT&T still has their Kuality update process in place.

I've got all night. I'll roll the date a few more times and see if anything eventually sticks.

You don't need to do all that. Just clear the data/cache for the app. In this case: Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/All/Device Management/Clear Data  !!! It resets the timmer!

I don't think a factory reset is worth the update.....That'll take me at least 2 hours to re-setup my homescreens! Sheeesh

Updated fine for me - no problem. Don't see any difference yet. I hope they fixed the problem of it dropping 4g data connections (although this has not happened to me for over a week now, was happening several times a day).

Same problem here.  Updates fails OTA update at 75% of install.  Tried twice.  I cannot find a mini kies download though.  Anyone who has the link can you provide the link and process?  I am not going to reset to factory defaults.  Too much time invested in the set up/custom configuration of my phone.

my skyrocket is stuck on software update loading.. Called ATT they had me call samsung. samsung told me the phone is fried and that I needed to either take the phone to an ATT store to have it re-imaged or fedex the phone to samsung to have re-imaged

If your can't adequately support a platform, don't sell it.  Two failed attempts at pushing out software (a minor upgrade by the looks of things) to arguably their flagship non-iPhone platform speaks poorly for T and their partner SSNLF.  This is compounded by the fact this must be one of their extremely high margin products because they do not pay the hefty fees AAPL requires on the iPhone.  This is fail on a grand scale and does not bode well for ICS upgrades.

Ok from reading on xda website,

This update will work if you on on baseband ending in KJ2(android 2.3.5). If you are on baseband ending KK1(update relased in November 2011), don't bother right now it won't work.

Pretty sure that is not true...my baseband ends in KJ2 and my upgrade has failed twice...now when i go to check it just says up to date...wonder if the update has now been pulled.

The update is still out there, go to settings -> applications-> all-> device management and then clear data and try again.

If you've tried in the last 24 hours, it makes you wait unless you clear your data.

From what I have been readaing, it is KJ2-LA3 update. The other fix some have been able to do is a factory reset and then download.
