there are no options to set a mp3 download as a ring tone or where to save it if you wanted to ...link for instructions please

I have my custom ring tones on my SD card and when I go into settings>Sound & Display>Phone Ringtone, all my custom tones show up in there.

I can also go into an individual contact and set a custom ringtone.

There are several ways to get custom ringtones onto your Xperia X10:

1. Play the MP3 file in Mediascape, and while it's doing that press the menu button and choose 'Set as ringtone.' This will make the MP3 file your primary ringtone.

2. Create a folder on your on your sdcard named 'ringtones'. In there, you can put any supported music file format you want. Then when you go to Settings > Sound & display > Phone ringtone, all the files should show up in the listing.
