3G AND Edge Problems?

Anyone else having problems connecting over 3G and Edge? My wifi works fine and i can make and recieve calls well. I've tried restarting my phone.

I'm in the philadelphia area, so if anyone else is having problems, enlighten me, so i don't have to switch out this phone.

Yeah same up here in NH, well we don't have 3G yet, my edge is down. it's also down on my old 2g that my mom has.

In Manchester, NH the Edge network is working fine. I have 5 bars and I just made a test call that connected with no delays.

I can tell you that even with my iPhone staying in the same place on my desk, the # of bars can fluctuate from 3 to 5 bars. I assume that this is because the cell tower's transmission signal strength fluctuates throughout the day as increased call volume forces it to split its signal strength across more phones accessing the tower.

This tells me that the tower(s) that serve Manchester, NH may need to upgraded to meet demand by adding additional capacity in the next several months to a year.

I'm in the Philly area too and having EDGE issues. I called into AT&T this morning and they said there are no "official" outages but they have gotten quite a few phone calls.

I think the entire North East is down (iPhone internet)

uh yeah, Philly also and i am looking at 2 iPhones and an 8125, no connection to the internet. But hey i can still makes calls though....

i called ATT this morning. i have been told this is an ATT network issue for the entire east coast.

but it is probably the iphone network only. my coworkers' blackberry works perfectly!

i want my BB back!!

Same here in Northern VA. Lost Internet ( 3G & Edge) connectivity for web and Exchange Push Mail late last night or early this AM.

I'm in the DC area and the only application I can get to work is Google Maps. Every other data driven app is not working, including email.

As as update, as soon as I activated my Wi-Fi connection- TA DA!!! 3G and EDGE are busted!!!!

I'm in central Illinois. Full bars on Edge and can't access any internet related functions. Calls go through fine but the weather app, e-mail and Safari etc do not.

Thanks for posting this - saved me a few hours on the phone with AT&T. I'm in Long Island, NY - 5 bars both Edge and 3G with no Internet access. SMS still works.

i haven't been able to pull email all morning in Philadelphia although I've confirmed that email is on my server. I have a 3G and it's not working but my wife's 2G is not working either. This has been since 7am this morning.

If my wife switches to wifi, she can get her emails and surf the net.

EDGE is definitely down and it's been quite a while.

SMS is part of the 2G Voice system. MMS might be problematic if data is completly messed up though I have managed to send some of those today.

I'm in the western suburbs of Philadelphia and had the same issues till late afternoon. Looks like there was a network outage. It would be nice if AT&T would disclose the outage early on. That way users and the company could avoid a lot of grief!

I'm a pilot and travel quite a bit. On my most recent trip I had the same problems with my 3G, EDGE, and even WiFi not working for data downloads for e-mail, or any of my apps. I had this problem in Albany, NY, Indianapolis, IN, New York, NY, and now I'm in Illinois and am having the same problems.

I talked to AT&T twice already and performed three different resets on my iPhone that worked for a while. First they had me turn the phone off and leave it off for about 10 seconds before turning it back on. When you turn it back on it is supposed to download some update or something. That worked in Albany but had the problem again in NY. Tried turning the phone off and back on again and this time it didn't work. When I got to Illinois I called AT&T again and this time talked to an Apple rep. He had me go into settings and switch to airplane mode for a few seconds and then switch it back off. When this didn't work he had me go into settings again and reset my network settings. The only thing you lose when you do this is the passwords to any WiFi networks you had previously stored passwords for. Both of these resets completely remove the iPhone from the AT&T network briefly and then reconnect. The network reset worked for a while, but then I was having the same problems again!

AT&T and/or Apple need to fix this problem ASAP!!! I'll be asking for some kind of credit on my next bill and recommend everyone else to do the same. This is extremely frustrating to say the least. This doesn't make the iPhone very attractive to businesses that were considering switching from RIM Blackberry's to iPhones.
