I know that using Bluetooth will shorten battery life considerably. My question is this. If Bluetooth is turned on in the phone but not connected to any device will the battery go down at the same rate as when the Bluetooth is turned on AND connected to a device? One more derivative question please. How about if the Bluetooth is turned on, IS connected but the device is not in use?
Thanks in advance... Bob

BT will not shorten battery life considerably, Of the three radios in your phone, BT is the lowest power consumer.
You should be able to leave BT on 24/7 with about a .5% per day battery load
You should be able to use BT 24/7 full power with at most 4% battery per hour- typical BT use at full power would be 1/10th of that, or about .5% - for example talking on BT headsets... streaming would come in at about 4% per hour)
(standby is .3mAh, "on" is 30mAh. iPhone4 battery is 1420mAh. )
