AT&T Wi-Fi spots

Hi,

Thought I saw a post somewhere that if you have an iPhone you have access to AT&T's Wi-Fi hotspots without charge. Does anyone know about this?

I don't think so.  If you have ATT as your home ISP (DSL I believe) then I believe you get a certain amount of free hours a month on the WiFi side.

No.  Not @ all.  This is what happens when seemingly well-intentioned users spread bad information.  The iPhone does not entitle you to any access to commercial AT&T hotspots.  If you have a certain category of AT&T DSL service, you get free wi-fi service at Hotspots.  This benefit is in no way related to the iPhone.

Planet Ed - you are correct.  If you have AT&T DSL Pro or above, you can use your iPhone to connect to AT&T wireless hotspots for free.  I don't believe there is a limit on hours. 

This is not part of your iPhone plan, but an added perk if you use one of the mid to premium AT&T DSL packages at home.

How did you make out @ McDonald"s? I don't know what you would need to access the network there, but pretty sure someone on staff would.

where do you live?  in the city i live in the entire downtown is a free wi-fi hot spot.  There is also a guy who has mapped out all the free wi-fi hotspots here  in Springfield MO so you might try doing a seach for for free wi-fi and your city.  I knew I had read about someone mapping them a couple of years ago and the city promoted the addition of the downtown area for free mostly for university students and  downtown workers.  Also a lot of libraries and hospitals will have free hotspots.

I drove around my town today just to see how many free wi-fi hotspots there are.  There are tons of them for me.  I was surprised how many I could find that didn't require passwords.  You might want to just drive around and check it out.  McDonalds and several restaurants and the library were accessible from the parking lot.
