Block Incoming Number

Hi all, I'm wondering if there is any way to block an incoming number? I have a person who continually calls me even though I have shown I clearly don't want to talk to them. I have the iPhone if that helps in your response. Right now I just don't answer the phone but it gets annoying when the call three times a day. Thanks for all your help in advance.

No there is not. ALthough you can assign a silent ringtone to them so at least you don't have to hear it ring.

If it is a case of abuse, you can call ATT and they will block it from their end - but they will only do that in true cases of stalking or abuse, not random callers.

AT&T cant block/restrict a incoming call through customer care, The only way to do that is through the Smart Limits for Wireless program,but even that has a monthly cost of $4.99.

Not so true. If you have a motorola phone you can go to security settings, restrict calls, and select all, phonebook, or none. At least if it happens often you can block everyone outside your phonebook and require those who aren't in it to leave a vm or text ya.

How does one assign a silent ringtone? I've tried and I cannot find the option in my iPhone?

You need to create one first. You can do this through Garageband, or a purchased ringtone that has a few seconds of silence in it (then edit it down to those couple of seconds). There is no native silent ringtone resident on the iPhone.

i have a jailbroken iphone and i made a ringtone that is silent. and numbers i dont want to ring is assigned to this silent ringtone.

Just another alternative to creating a silent ringtone. I read an article that states that the extension used for ringtones for the iPhone is .m4r. You can use a program like wave pad with any existing songs you have and create the ringtone you wish to use. You just need to make them 30 seconds or less, save them as .m4a and then just change the extension to .m4r. You can create one that is silent or create new ringtones from your existing songs.

If you push the sleep/wake button at the top of the phone twice when you receive the call you want to block it will go straight to voicemail. I read the Iphone manual and this is the only instructions given for blocking an incoming call.

My phone is blocking calls with out my doing anything. Any one know why this is happening?

Are you on a family plan? Could your parents have activated SmartLimits on your line?

That is not an issue since I am old (over 50). Is there a setting I have to change or look at to see if I did something by mistake? Or is this someting I need to take up with ATT?

It might be something you did by mistake.

Since this is not a mainstream problem, calling AT&T CS is probably going to be frustrating (I could be wrong).

So my first suggestion would be that you try the Users Manual (on the CD that came with the iPhone, not the little "Get Started" guide that came with it). See if you can find the section dealing with Blocked calls, it's probably in the Phone section.

But if you don't want to do that, then call AT&T.
