Things I love about the IPhone over the Tilt:
1. No more lost bluetooth...I would drop my headset at least once or twice a week, I would be on a call and my Tilt would suddenly get amnesia and forget I had a hands-free device....this happened on both Tilts I owned. Since having the IPhone I haven't lost the headset at all.
2. Safari.....I love being able to see the web pages as they were meant to be instead of a butchered version like Mobile IE serves up. Also love being able to view pages by turning the phone to its side.
3. Virtual keyboard....the one on the Tilt was a joke and the pop-out keyboard was shrunk down from the 8525 and I made lots of mistakes on it, virtual keyboard on IPhone I'm 50% more accurate on it than I was on the IPhone.
4. The amazing reoccurring tasks.....my Tilts would have tasks suddenly appear in the task list that I never even started, like contacts....sometimes my Tilt would start calling people on its own, especially after I got the Mobile 6.1 update.
5. Dropped calls....my Tilt would drop calls like crazy moving from one area to another...hasn't happened with the IPhone
IPod, now IPhone...all I need is a Mac Book and the trifecta is complete!

Wow, I had no idea the HD has a bigger touchscreen.... That's competition that has been overlooked by the other iClones. I know people don't want phones that are too big/bulky, but I loooovveee the iPhone's huge screen. It looks like the closest-looking iClone yet, to me. We'll just have to see how the user experience is, etc. But for you as a filmmaker, I can understand why you're interested!
mdifilm wrote:actually, you can download or convert tv shows via their tv shows' website and can download them into wm devices (I've done it before, but it would take a bit more work). I had a Tilt, and previously still own the 8525. (none of them crash on me either, the reason of me getting the iPhone 3G is the need to be able to show movies I've made in bigger screen and higher quality). As for installing application, WM devices has far more applications available compared to the app store and cydia combined. WM devices does have some usage issue due to that particular reason (too many applications), which is something you will slowly see with app store applications, like many of them still not working well etc...Tilt was great for me, I have voice turn-by-turn GPS direction, a lot of feature configured for what I need, but I just didn't like carring a huge phone with a stylus and a metal case that is really makes it look like a brick. But if the video playback were good, I wouldn't have switch toward to iPhone 3G, I needed something that would be able to showcase my work as filmmaker at the best quality I can get.So I think my next phone would be the upcoming HTC HD or something similar with bigger screen and higher resolution.

The only problem with the HD is that HTC has so far said they are not preparing a US version. So you'll have a bigger screen, but the phone will only be 2G here in the states.

I sync my outlook calendar with Google and then use SaiSuke to view it and modify it on my iPhone I like this app much better then the iCal one on the iPhone. It shows it more like my old Pocket Informant days...

iPhone screen, iPhone browser, Apps and general UI, all have Windows Mobile beaten and stomped on.
Some sort of anti-fingerprint surface would be super nice to have tho!!!

The anti-glare shield I use for the screen does a pretty good job of not showing fingerprints.

If there were buttons for INDIVIDUAL email accounts right on the iPhone homescreen, the thing would be PERFECT. I miss not having the direct access to any of my 3 email account, in a single click, right from the homepage.

1) You lose bluetooth A2DP, so you really have a consistent 1/2 bluetooth instead of an inconsistent full bluetooth.
2) Opera Mobile displays web pages better than Safari and has full flash support, so this argument is not only invalid but a negative for iPhone. The Fuze also lets you switch the orientation by tilting the phone, as does every phone with an accelerometer.
3) You didn't need a virtual keyboard on the Tilt because it had a real one!
4) Never had that problem, so I can't really comment for or against.
5) Weird, I've heard more complaints about dropped calls with iPhone than any other phone on the market, especially when switching between 3G and Edge...

2) Opera Mobile and Skyfire suffer from the lack of overall usability of Safari. Until HTC gets onboard with multi-touch, they'll be pale competitors. A Safari browser with Flash support will destroy anything else out there.
5) So far, my iPhone 3G is far superior to any of the 3 Tilts I had (including 2 new ones) in terms of call quality. I haven't noticed an increase or really a decrease in dropped calls, but I have a more consistent signal now.

1) That's fine that you feel that way, but if you ask the tons of people with HTC phones (check out XDA-Dev) lots of them use stereo bluetooth.
2) Lack of overall usability? You've obviously never used a Touch Pro or Touch Diamond if you feel that way. If you think using a touch wheel with 1 finger to zoom (you can hold the phone in 1 hand while doing it) is LESS usable than using 2 fingers in a pinching motion, which requires 2 hands to hold and zoom, then I don't know what to say.
3) I can't speak for call quality of an iPhone, nor can I speak for call quality of a Tilt, but I know there have been more complaints with dropped calls on iPhone than anything else. That's all I know.

You can zoom on the iPhone with just 1 finger tapping.

2) I've never laid hands on the Touch Pro or the Touch Diamond, but having used Skyfire and Opera on a Tilt, I didn't find either one of them to be more than a bad imitator of Safari on the iPhone. The Skyfire browser was terribly clunky on the Tilt, slow, often unresponsive, and I found the overall navigation and zoom functionality to be middling at best.
3) Again with the unscientific conclusions. Lots of people complained about the Pantech Duo's for call quality, and people either love or loathe the Motorola RAZR phones. While the Tilt was overall a good phone (except for those reliability issues), call quality has so far been better on my iPhone (and with or without my Shure headset).

You're right dude, you're totally right. A2DP is no loss whatsoever to anyone outside of a fanatic, and even though Opera 9.5 was optimized for the Touch Pro and Diamond, coming as the default built in browser, I guess it's incredibly dysfunctional. Why would anyone use anything but Safari? {keep it courteous and edit out any uncalled for comments}

Well, fortunately Apple has the luxury of making 1 operating system for 1 phone, Windows Mobile is used on hundreds, maybe thousands of models around the world. Some have touch screens, some don't, some have keyboards, some don't, some have memory cards, some don't, the screens range from 2 to 4 inches, QVGA, VGA, WVGA... So yes, OSX, an operating system made for one phone, is more "polished", well said. A good thing, considering you can't customize OSX at all... Have you taken a look at some of the themes people come up with for their TF3D interface? You can totally transform the appearance of the software if you really don't like the look of it, and from using it for quite a while I can tell you it's very functional and actually fun to navigate.
