On another note...I was in the apple store yesterday and was told that current AT&T customers had to switch plans to one of the plans listed on their brochure. I was told by AT&T that you could keep a current plan with the 30.00 add-on (with no corp. discount applied to the voice plan).

Not at this time. You can purchase it at AT&T and they will order it for you to be shipped to the store. They will contact you when it arrives. It is call Direct Fulfillment. Please make sure you understand the process completely.

If I currently have a FAN discount, will it stay on my account even if I go to an Apple store? I have a gift card for Apple to purchase the phone.

I ordered two iPhones with the Family Plan, and they're telling me it's like $35 activation for the first phone, and like $25 for the second or something...

They waived it based on the company I work for.

I called AT&T and was told part of my additional charges was the $36 activation fee. I told the rep that I was told that the activation fee would be waive, she checked and removed the $36 charge plus the tax. She then went on in telling me that they bill 1 month in advance and since the billing cycle was on the 12th and I got my IPhone on the 11th, I was being charge for one day, that I can understand. However, when I asked about the FAN discount she is now telling me it takes up to 2 months to see it on my bill and it is not proactive. She then states that the FAN discount only applies to the voice plan and not the data plan. I told her that is not what I was told at the store where I bought my phone. She stated the Apple is not allowing the discounts to be taken off the data plan. She asked if I wanted to speak to someone else and I said yes. I was on hold for about 20 minutes. I hung up and got another rep who told me the computers were down but could answer general questions. She also told me that the FAN discount does not apply to the data plan and if I was told it would. I needed to go back to the store and speak to them. I asked to speak to a manager and she stated the same thing.

I do have the new IPhone 3G. I was told by the rep that it was Apple that was not allowing the discount.

If it's the old iphone then yes there is no FAN discount!

Yesterday, in a discussion with a representative over my FAN discount being removed prematurely, I found out that there are two things they must do in order to fully remove the discount from your account. They need to remove the FAN and a 'flag'. It is my understanding that the flag is easily overlooked. If the flag is left on you will not be able to activate the iPhone at Apple.
If you call AT&T to have the FAN discount removed temporarily be sure to ask if they have removed the number and the flag.
