Two months ago, the Facebook app on my iPhone 3G wouldn't allow me to use certain features. So, I deleted the app and quickly went to the app store to re-download it. However, once finding the Facebook app it said that it was already installed and wouldn't let me download.
So, I held the top power button, slid the power off and tried to turn the phone back on. The silver apple would show for about 10 seconds, but the screen would quickly fade to black. Over and over again I went through this. Even doing a soft reset, never seeing the password entry screen. I eventually had to plug in and completely restore the phone, losing all my information, EVERYTHING.
Like the noob I am, I failed to sync up with itunes and the EXACT same things has taken place. The phone won't turn on. Is there anything I can do to get this thing up and running again without completely wiping it clean?!?!
P.S. What the heck is causing this!?
Thanks for all the help...

So your saying you failed to do a backup a second time and you will loose your information again?? That is a hard way to learn to always keep backups.
Keep the iPhone on the wall charger for a while (not the USB connected to a computer) to ensure it has power. After an hour I would try the phone to see if it comes back on.
If not then a reboot holding the home & power button down for 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo.
If it reboots after a few minutes good. If not then you will need to perform a restore and yes you will loose your info if it was not backed up.
Also if it continues to happen, you might want to have it looked at at the Apple store to see if they can figure out what the problem is and possibly replace the phone (if they do you will need to have a backup or you will loose everything, Again).
