Your order was cancelled. I originally ordered a 8gb black on 7/18. One week later, I get a call from the store telling me my order was cancelled due to a system error. I'd need to return to the store to place a new order. I was quite upset, so I waited a couple of weeks and decided to try again. I went to a different store. As the guy was helping me place the order, I brought up my order. He told me the original store tried to make some orders ship faster, but instead the system cancelled them. He said 20 or so folks were impacted. Nice huh. Anyway, ordered a 16gb white on 8/2, it shipped on 8/6, for 8/7 delivery. I definitely like the 2nd store better.

davis25......  I tried that method, but I had to keep in mind that not everyone who ordered a phone is necesarrily an iphone customer. The shipping orders were all jumbled. For example, the 10th person in front of me already had theirs, but the 8th person hadn't had their phone shipped, but the 4th person already had theirs as well. It's impossible to know what they ordered, even from the stance of an iphone (8G, 16G? white? black?). I went in to the store today to ask someone if they could check the status for me, and the lady was rude. Told me there was "no possible way for them to do that from inside the store." Which I absolutely don't believe. I'm sure they at least have internet on their computers. She told me I had to wait 10 business days. But the guy who helped me order it told me 10 days, not BUSINESS days. And that (10 days) seems to be the range I'm seeing most people get their 8G's, which is what I ordered. I'm frustrated, to say the least. Trying to be patient.

It FINALLY shipped.  We ordered 2 iPhones on 7/26 from an at&t store in Fort Worth, TX 76137.

16GB Blk arrived at the store 8/5 and had shipped from Fort Worth, TX on 8/4

8GB Blk will arrive at the store today (8/6) and it had shipped from Memphis, TN on 8/5.

I can’t wait to go pick them up and start playing with it.  Now, I just have to figure out what excuse I’m going to tell my boss to get out of work early .

**Update:  I picked-up our phones last night and everything went smoothly.  Set-up took a few mins and the phone is AWESOME!  The wait is worth it!  Overall, the process isn't too bad.  I only wish the status web site gave more information, like the ETA, 10-21 days is too big of a range.

The staff at the Western Center Fort Worth at&t store were great!  Very helpful in the ordering process and the activation process.  Once the phone had shipped at&t kept me informed by sending me an email that phones had shipped.  Once the phones arrived at the store, they called and let me know the phones were waiting for me.  When I got there the staff went to the back, got my phone, checked my ID, and less than 20 mins later I was out the door with 2 awesome iPhones.

Thanks for all the posts, I really enjoyed reading them.

Anyone know if there is any way to see which device the people ahead of you have on order?  Now you can see where you are in line but for instance number 22 in line might not have shipped and number 40 has because they are waiting on different devices.

The problem is att keeps updating their software to prevent sites from being able to track your orders.  You can probably do it manually though...just try the order numbers before yours.

I have another weird one....

I just got my phone yesterday (IT IS AWESOME!!! )...anyway...my CC was charged on monday, my phone shipped tuesday, I got it yesterday, and today...wait for it....the CC charge disappeared from my bank account...

Here's to hoping that there is some sort of mistake and I get my phone for free.......of course, I'm far too paranoid to spend the money, so it wouldn't do me any good anyway (at least not for like a month or something..)

I almost forgot the whole point of this post:  Has anyone else had this CC weirdness happen?

7 aug 08-confirmation email from AT&T that my iphone was ordered

Checked my status for 16g 3G last night and it says Cancelled!! Called ATT and they were no help. Called the store and they said the only way it could get cancelled was insuff funds. I let the store know the charge was still showing on my debit card and there is more than enough funds to cover the charge which has already been debited from my balance. No answers..just frustration. Just out of curiosity i check some orders before mine and 2 others were cancelled. I think its a system problem with ATT and debit cards.

Not only that bro but i learned some interesting information at apple yesterday. Ok i orderd the black 16gb phone and im in anchorage alaska. i ordered 31 july 08 and still havnt got the phone, technically i still wouldnt have the phone by now if my order didnt cancel i still would be waiting. Now a lady was in the store with me yesterday and she ordered her white 16gb iphone the day after me 1 aug 08 and was picking her phone up yesterday. So yesterday i ordered a white 16gb iphone because they do come the fastest. she ordered hers on a friday and she got it wedsday thats 4 days not counting the day she got it on. Now for proof just use this code in the search for iphone orders in anchorage alaska. my old order number was 219 which is now showing up cancelled but if you look at orders after mines even more ppl that ordered as late as aug 3 they still got there iphones faster than me and there are a ton of ppl that ordered before me that i bet wont get theres as fast as me. I should get mines buy monday. The zipcode for our area is 99501 just start with 219 and go up entering 220, than jump to 235 and see the differences between ppl that recieved there iphones and ppl that orderd 5 days before them are sitll waiting.

That is garbage!! This has happened to me twice already. My first order was 7/8 and the second was 7/18... Now both are cancelled.

The first time might have been my bank's fault, as they had some kind of security issue, and my CC # was one of many that were at risk. So they cancelled it.

But now that my 2nd order is cancelled, I doubt it was my bank's fault. Now I have a new card...

The ATT clerks told me that it had to do with paying wih a debit card, and that debit cards could only hold payment up to 10 days. Why on earth they put a hold on it, instead of just going ahead and making the payment when ordered, is beyond me. Or at least let me pay a deposit, and then I can pay the full amount when it comes in. Extremely frustrating. I use this card everywhere and for anything.

Between Apple and ATT, I swear.... Seem like a bunch of clowns running around wihout a clue. I remember when I could walk into a Cingular store, get a phone, and walk out of the store using it in all it's glory. Took less than 20 mins. Now they don't even have chairs in their stores anymore. So you stand...wait...and wait... order a phone... wait...and wait...order is cancelled....stand in store line again...wait...and wait...

That is true but that is standard practice with all banks when using a debit charge, when the debit is placed on your card the seller(in this case who is at&t) has app 3-10 days to remove the funds or the transaction will be closed. But i totally understand your frusration and agree with you 110%

Well.... what happens now? The clerks said that ATT would contact me to re-order it. But I haven't heard from anybody, not to mention that I'm pretty skeptical that soome one will.

Can't I just full out pay for the freakin thing? So that I'm ensured to get one. This cat and mouse crap is getting old and my patience is wearing thin. As I've taken my turn in line(x2), and my number just keeps on getting pushed back further and further.

Someone mentioned that you can make a deposit on one, however im not sure how true this is. However you can do what i did and just go back to the store an order the white version. The proof is in the pudding just look at order status for my friend here in anchorage who ordered the white 16gb iphone

Really? That's standard practice? My mom's the primary account holder, so she had to order the iPhone for me, and I think she used her debit card. So if the phone doesn't ship within 10 days (I ordered it on 8/02) it will be cancelled?

So I went in today to get my iPhone 3G! Finally got it all set up and left the AT&T store about an hour ago.  Stick it out cuz the phones will come and it will be well worth it.

This forum definetely helped me get through my anxious times! YAY!
